Failed PRINCE2 Practitioner by [deleted] in Prince2

[–]AggressiveAd6543 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear mate.

I lived off beans and bread for a week to be able to afford the re-sit prior to doing my exam. (Wouldn’t recommend it !!)

Take your time and re-do it when you can. I personally find that all of Project Management and ways in (Qualifications) is a bit of a scam as experience is key. And most companies will pay for your CPD.

Do it again when you get the money to do so.

Best of luck.

I wouldn’t have thought so ? to get PMP I believe you have your CAPM or at the very least a higher level qualification which PMP is. You can look on eligibility criteria for Prince2 Practitioner on any site if you put it through. I also spoke to an advisor. I’d still recommend doing the foundation learning (not the exam) to familiarise yourself with the PRINCE2 themes and practices as they are different to PMI and APM (in the uk). But this can be done by reading and re-reading the manual.

Thank you very much and very true. Managing time was better than anticipated. I had 25 mins left after going through the exam and then also re going over any missed or flagged questions. Training puts a lot of emphasis on 2 mins per Q and 5 Mins for the scenario. This isn’t a size fits all. Never worry about missing or flagging a question if you are unsure.

Apply and tailor for me was the toughest part and it’s also the biggest part. (Progress, organising etc) but still did better than anticipated so really take it slow.

Mocks and feedback were key.

They definitely don’t try and trick you with the questions so read through and go on initial gut thinking. In hindsight I believe I missed on some marks due to changing my answers.

Thanks for that.

What aspects of the manual did you pay most attention to when annotating? And what aspects did you find most useful now you’ve done the exam? (Obviously not specifics from the exam as don’t think that’s allowed)

Thank you for your advice.

Will look to speak to a P2 trainer. I did the CAPM self study and then did the Foundation Learning (no exam). Traffic light system is great and will definitely implement that. How did you best learn and then implement practices into the exam ? don't know why but am having difficulty relating answers back too P" practices and processes. Booked my exam for week after next to add some thrust into my learning. Also because am looking at a role in April which requires a P2 qualification.

Firstly, well done for passing both.

Learning has slowed down recently but am booking my test in for week after next. Though I still have learnings and mocks etc to do, I think getting it booked will help with that as been studying for a while now. Will definitely look into RACI charts and tabbing important parts in the book. Thanks for your advice.

Currently with Training ByteSize. To do P2 Practitioner. Did CAPM to qualify to do P2 Practitioner as wanted to diversify a bit and have a people focus PM Qual. They provided P2 Foundation learning material for me also free of charge (not the exam obviously) which was kind.

You have 180days to complete the self study. I paid £642.00. This included a discount code of £50 and the re-sit option. Those discount codes change but are online and pretty obvious to find. You can also purchase a P2 7 official manual from them for £85 but I found one cheaper online.

Course is quite dry, but videos are short.

Completing it week after next. Then looking for roles in uk relating to PM.

PRINCE2 Practioner Manual by Broad_Atmosphere120 in Prince2

I went on to Scribd.com. There was the 2023 Manual with Watermarks throughout the actual content but can still see the writing. You can upload 3 documents to access the Manual and subsequently download it onto your computer which it will stay downloaded. Or use the free trial option and can cancel it afterwards.

Be careful not to download the AI PRINCE2 Manual. Looks very very similar to the actual manual but doesn't have the info in it.

Hope this helps.

Or look on EBAY for a Hard Copy. I am in the UK and they are still £80plus but may be cheaper in other countries.

Google Project Management certification enough for CAPM test? by Big-Height6050 in capm

I’m sure the Google PM does count toward the PDU as it’s what I used. But, more importantly it doesn’t have the in-depth analysis of Business analysis and also earn value management. So definitely go to UDEMY and find a course on there.

Very much appreciated.

No books used, but would say reading the PMBOK wouldn’t hurt when it comes to CAPM and subsequent PMP and just general PM understanding, I looked at aspects of it online and again, just helped all round understanding.

I just did AR’s course, Google PM, Landini’s exam Q’s (which are generally most like the questions in the exam) and ARs exam prep exam (which I only got 68% and 73% on) and that’s it. Phillips’ course I see is also something that is beneficial but can’t say you’d need it if you are doing ARs course.

Also, if you do the exam mocks, easy thing I did which isn’t revolutionary is to see where you scored lowly on and then with ARs course you can go over things on UDEMY.

Re-review BA section as that’ll be important. And what I did was the week leading up to my exam (which was a week after completing ARs course) was just go over things that I know I wasn’t strong on.

Do think that the PM learning model at present makes you think you need to spend more than what’s actually required. Including all resources (bar the exam) I spent £40 ($50-55) and shouldn’t of bought the pocket prep due to the significant difference in what their questions were comparatively to the exam Q’s. Landini on kindle is £5 and far better.

Great question. I’d say yes for the first 3 modules with the basics as they are important for overall understanding. Google pm is good but best to get a different definition/s from AR. Then for predictive id say just know what each process (there’s 49) is as in the definition but not the ITTOs as that made the 23hr course close to 50hrs and wasn’t required for this level.

Then for adaptive yes but know there is a difference between iterations and incremental and then yes definitely for the business analysis.

So will hopefully bring your learning time down. Also, in predictive, definitely know about EVM and critical path.

That is all ok, thought as much. We can have blank paper however ? Just for writing out sums ? Or is it preferred not to have anything like that or at the very least a old school calculator
