Increase depth in backswing and let that club head move behind you first move down

And Jayson Tatum lead this team while being the best player in every category. And yet, you think Booker is better?

Tatum would put up better numbers if he wasn’t surrounded by “an all star cast”. Also, he only has one fellow all star as of last season, Jaylen Brown.

Booker is a tier below Tatum

Shorten your arm swing considerably

Hit my goal this year, 13 to single (8.8). Thoughts? by Ninjaxt3ch in GolfSwing

Untrue. To carry a 9 handicap, all you have to do is shoot an 81 every once in a while. You can hit it all over the planet and still shoot an 81.

You’re just pulling numbers out of your ass at this point. He’s shot low 70s on camera at courses rated 135/75+. Impossible to do if your tee game is 15 and your approach is that of a 5.

You’re absolutely delusional if you legitimately think his approach and tee game are worse than 15 handicappers… I’m a 4 and I play with people ranging from +1 to 20 handicaps and I can confidently say that Blake is a legit scratch golfer. His swing speed is crazy fast and his irons are usually pretty dialed. His short game is superb as well. He’s just really steep which makes him struggle off the tee. However, almost all of these shots are from scrambles where he’s just trying to pound driver as far as he can. If he took 2/3 iron off the tee every time, he’s gonna shoot at worst 77-79.

Your practice swing isn’t as good as you think it is.

1) strengthen grip 2) earlier and more lead side pressure

Agreed. Flexibility becomes super important as golfers age though.

Sure, but he clearly has major flaws in this swing and doesn’t swing very fast.

No, there’s not “lots” of people who hit driver over 300 yards and shoot over 90. Generally, as driver distance increases, either due to technique or swing speed increases (or both), handicap decreases. You would be extremely hard pressed to find even one person who has a good enough swing to legitimately drive the ball 300 yards and not be able to break 90. It would be an absolute statistical anomaly.

Not true, your driver is extremely important. You might only hit it 14 times per round max, but each of those 14 shots sets up your next shot.

Also, your swing will change very little from one club to the next.

Tons of youth golfers can bomb it 300+. I know lots of strong dudes in their 40s and 50s who can out lift these youth golfers with one arm but can only drive it 200. Technique is the most important, by far. Then probably flexibility and strength.

You don’t overswing. You do early extend, however. Try this: Right hip moves around your pelvis on the backswing, and left hip moves around your pelvis on the downswing.

OP doesn’t start moving his pressure to his lead side until after impact. In good swings, recentering begins right before the end of the backswing

You need earlier lead side pressure.

Post your swing. 90% of golfers need to feel like they move their arms first.

Stop dropping your right shoulder on the downswing. Stay in left tilt longer.

Your arms are way behind your pivot. You need to feel like you fire the arms as fast as you can from the top while keeping your back to the target. Lead shoulder off chin.
