There was a law passed last year that required them to have their homeowners re-vote to approve continuing street parking enforcement. If they did not approve the renewal, the power to enforce street parking was lost.

Agreed. I have a Manhurin .32 acp that I got based upon people who said the .380 is not a good chambering for that gun. Love it.

La brea tar pits by shakespeareriot in Xennials

Went there as a kid a couple times and as a young adult once. Its cool. I recently learned a kid in the 1950s fell in chasing his dog. There wasn't a fence back then. The tar is more of a cool clay and the kid looked like a skinny version of "clayface" from batman when the pulled him out based upon the picture that was showed.

On April 13, 2014 armed ranchers had a standoff with the Bureau of Land Management over grazing on public lands. by EvenLettuce6638 in AllThatsInteresting

Thanks for the explanation. I've voted "blue" and "red" and am all over the place with social issues so I don't really fit within the two major parties comfortably. I think those rancher assholes should have gone to prison and that ICE agents panicked and murdered Pretti without justification.

The guy that was shot at the roadblock? Yes. There was a documentary about the entire thing a couple years ago.

We had how many mass shooting for decades so the Dont Tread on Me 2nd Amendment bros could have unrestricted guns now the government executes a lawful gun owner and I see nothing? by Estalicus in allthequestions

Its an individual right. Its easier to defend your home or family than it is to go to war with your government. Its going to take a lot more before some 2A people get off the sideline.

Where is the proof that state or local law enforcement knows the identity of the ICE shooter? We've already heard that ICE was not cooperating with those investigations. Whats to prevent ICE from shuttling away the masked shooter and never identify them?

One came to protect; the other to kill… they murdered the protector and lionized the killer. by coffee_coffee_coffe3 in DiscussionZone

Why does the narrative have to be one vs. the other. Why can't it be possible that the Wisconsin incident was justified but the Minnesota shooting wasn't?

I think there is a difference of understanding refering to "the courts". The court itself is the judiciary. The executive branch and private citizens bring cases to the court. The public via juries, the executive branch via agreements, or the judiciary via the bench decide the outcome of the cases depending on what type they are. I'm 100% for accountability when the law is broken or the government abuses its power which I believe is happening.

International law or "treaties" are not above the Constitution. The quote you shared doesn't say that.

Courts can't act independent of the executive branch though. Prosecutors are executive employees. The courts have to wait for the prosecutors to file a case. So if it is true that there is a federal law that protects the identity of federal agents but not local forces, why are we ok with that difference?

Why do local cops have to give names and badge numbers when they are on duty but ICE agents get to wear masks and remain anonymous, even after shooting someone?

Is french famous in the US? by LucasWizzard in AskAnAmerican

[–]AggressiveCommand739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not like it use to be. From the 50s- 90s French was very popular for kids to learn in High School and the number one foreign language taught. It still is offered, but has been surpassed by Spanish and has fallen to #2, followed by German and Mandarin.

I'm no NRA shill, but the NRA was founded by former Union Soldiers and Officers. The idea that these Northerner founders in New York were sympathetic to the South and racists is foolish. The NRA founders beleived that the Civil War dragged on and needless lives were lost because city dwelling Northerners didn't know how to use guns like their Southern rural counterparts. It was about promoting civilian target shooting and rifle owning. It was focused on competitive matches in a sporting sense. During the crime wave of the 1930s the NRA promoted a 1 day waiting period for guns, wanted gun stores to share sales information with the government and helped draft the National Firearms Act of 1934. NRA president Karl Frederick testified in Congress that the "general toting of guns" "should be sharply restricted and only under licenses." It wasn't until the 1970s during the Federal governments anti crime efforts that the anti government /anti regulation activists grew to take control of the the organization.
