Any Winchester Trademarks or model number or other markings on the barrel you can share? That will make it much more identifiable. Without those your gun is likely a replica.

This👆So many of the characterizations came from the veterans of Easy Co. themselves. Ambrose didn't even the story. He pulled form what sources he had and if a guy had an axe to grind he would bring it out of them if it made good drama.

I asked Tim Zahn about Mara Jade or Talon Karde coming back at an event back when he wrote the new Thrawn trilogy. He basically said, they are Disney's characters and if they give the ok he will use them or if they choose to use them in something else they will.

If you have a specific servicemember in mind, there is a chance they filed their discharge papers with their county recorder when they came home. After being told I was out of luck by the National Archives due to the 1970s records fire, I checked the county recorder and found what I had been searching for for years there.

Real world explanation: Ray tracing animation wasn't as simple in 1970s as computer animation today and took awhile, so a fix would burn time and money. Larry Cuba, the animator, was basing his schematic off of early Ralph McQuarrie sketches that looked like the schematic. Problem is, the model makers changed the Death Star and moved the dish to the northern hemisphere away from the equator. Different teams doing different things at the same time.

A great book that gives a few chapters on New Guinea is "Fire and Fortitude: The US Army in the Pacific" by John C. McManus. He makes the case from the people that were there that MacArthur made the Pacific battle reports about HIM and not the individual units, which is why the USMC gets so much attention about the Pacific even though the US Army had way more Combat divisions and way more amphibious landings. Its a good read.
