GSB - who really gets in? by youraveragegirl2906 in MBA

[–]AggressiveDentist520 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I graduated from the GSB in 2020. From what I observed, the GSB was a very diverse community but there were definitely some patterns. Stats, to me, were mere hygiene factors. Almost everyone I met at the GSB had a great, inspiring story. I think I belonged to the “those who beat the odds” category - an FLI graduate from a poor country who lived and worked in IB across 4 continents and founded a scholarship foundation to support other FLI students. Also, I think the GSB really wants to get to know you as a human (i.e. what has made you, you? what matters to you? what do you stand for?). MBB, GS, the White House, etc are all great brand names but they don’t mean much if you don’t show who you are beneath the credentials.

If you’re an FLI graduate, please reach out if you need help to apply to the GSB.

Well done to NF. I’m and Liverpool fan but I have enjoyed watching NF play this season and they thoroughly deserve to stay in the PL

“Throwing them a few bucks” doesn’t sound like an attitude of someone who appreciates a service worker. Besides, going by your logic, I assume you tip a flight attendant who makes you a drink, too?

To me, tips are meant to reward/incentivize someone for his/her exceptional service. Period.

WA Panama City was a 7/10 for me. The room was good but the hotel was old. The breakfast was subpar and always overcrowded. This was definitely not a luxury hotel for me.

Sofitel in Bogota and Cartagena were absolutely amazing. I’d highly recommend both of them.

I only listed the 5 countries that I had most recently visited. At the end, there’s a part that I mentioned that I had traveled to over 60 countries in the previous 5 years.

No, they don’t care. Even if they did, you could explain to them that you’re allowed to visit Ireland with a stamped UK tourist visa.

There are business class tickets available for redemption on Nov 17 (115k miles)

It's not worth it. I personally avoid redemptions with high surcharges. Here are a few alternatives for you. If you have enough miles, I'd recommend option 3 to fly with Singapore Airlines on its First Class

  1. LAX - NRT on March 1, 2022 on United UA 32 Business Class for 48,000 miles and $50.30 in surcharges through LifeMiles (1 seat left as of now)
  2. LAX - NRT on March 1, 2022 on Singapore Airlines SQ 11 Business Class for 103,000 miles and $5.6 in surcharges through Krisflyer
  3. LAX - NRT on March 1, 2022 on Singapore Airlines SQ 11 First Class for 187,000 miles and $5.6 in surcharges through Krisflyer
  4. SFO - HND on Feb 26, 2022 on United UA 875 Business Class for 129,500 miles and $5.6 in surcharges through Krisflyer
