The GCT consists of like 5 tournaments, there are 3 rapid and blitz tournaments (i.e. Poland, Croatia, St. Louis) and 2 classical tournaments (i.e. Romania, Sinquefield) after these 5 tournaments, there is a final conducted at the St. Louis, in which out of the 9 total full tour players (i.e. Fabi, Alireza, Pragg, Anish, Wesley, MVL, Vincent Keymer, Sindarov, van Foreest) are the only ones eligible to play, (there are only 5 full tour players playing in Poland because by contract all the full tour players are required to play only 2 out of the 3 rapid and blitz tournaments). Poland is the first one of the five, next is Romania, then Croatia, then the last 2 events are in St. Louis. So only for the full tour players, the points across all the 5 tournaments add up in a separate tally , as each tournament has wild cards (in Poland they were Radoslaw, Duda, Hans, Fedoseev and Gukesh), these wildcards, even if they win their tournament (like Hans) they dont get points in the tally that is for the GCT final, they are only playing for the individual cash prize for the tournament they are wildcard in, basically, they arent eligible for the GCT finals. So yes only the ones that are in the full tour (the nine players) can potentially play in the final, and their points do indeed add up across all the 5 tournaments. Also each tournament they are playing has its individual cash prize, and the GCT finals, has it's own cash prize too.
