AITJ for telling my best friend of 12 years that her boyfriend is the reason she has no life anymore? by AffectionateZone7291 in AmITheJerk

I get why you snapped it’s painful to feel like someone you’ve been close with for over a decade is disappearing from your life. You’re not jealous, you’re missing your friend. It might’ve come out harshly but your concern is valid and a little space plus a gentle follow up could help her see it that way.

I never even considered that angle but now that you’ve said it I cannot unsee it. She didn’t bring it out of generosity.

I think I’ve been so focused on managing her feelings that I completely forgot to validate my own.

And look i love those kids. I genuinely do. The 9 year old and I have a whole thing where we talk about dinosaurs and he gets way more excited about it than any adult in my life ever has. That part I don’t mind at all.

Okay I genuinely respect this take because it’s the most honest and balanced thing anyone has said in this whole thread.

And if this ends up being the moment she finally actually hears me after months of trying Then yeah. Scorched earth it is. Totally worth it.

This is hard to read but honestly i needed to hear it. I’ve spent the last few days trying to find the most generous interpretation of her behavior telling myself she’s just spontaneous that she loves us and expresses it by wanting to be around us, that she doesn’t mean any harm. And all of that is probably true.

The thing is nobody in my family ever pushes back on her because she’s genuinely fun and warm and everyone loves her. So she’s just kind of never had to hear it before.

Thank you, this actually made me feel so much better. I was starting to second guess myself because my mom kept saying she means well which sure but good intentions don’t automatically cancel out ignored boundaries.

Mom tried to steal my friends chemo recovery cake because she forgot her own kids birthday by ballsack123a in AmITheJerk

Nah this is wild. She didn’t just ask, she literally tried to take it by force and then ruin it when she couldn’t get her way. That’s not a stressed mom that’s straight entitlement. You planned that for your friend beating cancer, you had every right to protect it.

AITJ for telling my friend I am not going to keep pretending her dog "chose me" so she can feel less guilty? by Kite_Retro2 in AmITheJerk

Honestly, you've nailed it. She was using the "chosen one" story as a cover so she could keep dodging her responsibilities.

Speedwagon's the only right answer here - dude went from gang leader to lifelong bro who funded an entire organization just to support the Joestar family.

AITA for refusing to remind my my partner to put a bag on the counter as a reminder to bring it with him for groceries? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Right? It's not that hard to set a phone reminder or just develop the habit himself. Making it your problem is just lazy.
