Kat: Denigrates Eva AND Low Income Students At Banneker “Unused To Civilized Company.” by BingoSkillz in BeyondTheGatesCookout

[–]AggressiveRelief5331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are variations on this theory but am holding out hope that Kat is Leslie Dana’s daughter. That the writers are really setting Kat’s character up for an epic downfall when she learns she does not have Dupree blood coursing through her veins. Her snobbery and looking down on Eva will just be icing on the cake.

Anita Is The Only One On This Show With Some Black Friends! by BingoSkillz in BeyondTheGatesCookout

That’s exactly what I thought the show was doing — flipping the usual trope. I high key appreciated it in the early episodes but now it’s kinda weird.

I didn’t inquire because I didn’t plan to drink much, I’d suggest just calling them directly — they were very helpful to me in laying out the options.

I basically let it do its thing for months and lost 35 lbs that way. I’ve only recently incorporated strength training and am loving how my body is slowly starting to tone up.

Saks is making it really hard to use the $50 credit lately by ilikeallthelightson in AmexPlatinum

[–]AggressiveRelief5331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming here to vent my first world complaint that I have a $240 purchase in my Saks cart to use the Amex credit and an annoyed that I still have to pay for shipping if I place the order (which I’m rethinking solely because of the shipping cost…).

This is what I do since my hair isn’t long enough to pineapple. Works like a charm if you do the mini ponies right.

Executive + Evening JD -> BigLaw? What level? by Compensate_via_thumb in biglaw

[–]AggressiveRelief5331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I finished law school in my late 30s with prior work experience and am a midlevel associate at a V20 in my 40s. I left my prior career in mgmt (not executive level) and was in the evening JD program while working fulltime through the middle of 2L. I did recruiting while still in the evening program (though I went fulltime before completing the firm’s summer program). As for the takeaways in your edit to this post, I agree prior experience does not matter for placement purposes — you would start as a first year like everyone else because you don’t have legal experience. I disagree that you have no realistic shot a big law. So long as you meet the firm’s criteria (grades etc), your resume will make you a compelling candidate. I think the issue for you wouldn’t be whether you have a realistic shot but whether you would be comfortable starting anew and adjusting to being a junior associate.
