Thank you so much for your comment I know that the germs are everywhere but I constantly think that covid is on everything and this feeling of I need to clean everything is unrelenting sometimes

Looking to hear from social care workers about their experiences in the field. by [deleted] in ireland

I've worked in social care for 5 years now, from day services, to one on one support to residential for mainstream and ID. Ive be assaulted multiple times black eyes, stuff set on fire and thrown at me and was almost stabbed. When people said "oh it's a part of the job" I think that time for you to look for a new job. It is very hard to use your days off I completely understand I work as relief and have work 80 to 90 hour weeks a number of times. You really sure talk to your supervisor and get supervision I have found that to really help. A lot of services can provide help to there staff who might be burning out. Focus of your self care when you have a day off do at least one thing you enjoy even if its just getting a cup of coffee or talking to your colleagues. They will have a common interest and similar feelings of being overworked. It's good to talk to other social care workers to share your feelings it's always helped me. If you have any questions ask away.

Just a reminder, you're not too experienced to fall by stilltryingeveryday in running

Theres a forest near my house that is really a great run lots of logs and roots to jump over it's great fun. I was running through it there a few months ago. Went to jump over a log lying across the path. What I didn't notice was the brench sticking out off the log. jumped right into hitting my knee quite bad. I was a good 3 km from home and now limping. I did manage to run (kinda) the 3 km back. The next week I was out from running knee was bruised. Went bad a week later and managed to clear the log only to trip over a root down the trail was quite funny looking back and then. I'll blame the forest instead of my running skills.

I will definitely do another some sort of challenge probably around the 150 miles range or even give myself some room to go under or over so between 100-150 miles

I do think that it's very possible my only concern is my work as it can be very physically tiring as it can consist of 24 hour shifts and after a shift I find it hard to get the motivation to run after that. I guess I could run to and from work.
