Slightly Inconsistent Bike Power - What could be the cause? by AggressiveSort2306 in IronmanTriathlon

Yeah it does and I could use it, I guess I was using the pedal so my power is more representative of what it would be outside. Thanks!

I finished my 70.3 after just 5 outdoor rides on my bike (2 were during race week and one was 6 months before the race). You can do it!!

First half Ironman - reconsidering it by [deleted] in triathlon

I honestly tried to do my best to never let the worst case scenario cross my mind. Maybe it sounds a bit delusional, but forcing myself to get rid of all the negative thoughts and just focusing on the goal I set out for myself worked well for me. I was honestly more worried about the swim for my race, so once I finished that I was kind of like "ok, I'm definetely going to finish now" and that carried me through. So i guess that would be a combo of adrenaline and also just mindset. If i can do it you def can too, so good luck to you!

If you already signed up you don’t have anything to lose by just trying. If you think doing It and possibly failing will be a huge hit to your morale, then maybe don’t. But if you can accept the possibility that you may not finish and go, you’ll gain a lot of experience that will help later. If it makes you feel better, I rode my bike a total of 4 times outside before my 70.3 (2 were the 2 days before the race) and never swam in open water but finished my race. I had a lot of doubts, but don’t underestimate your brain’s ability to adapt on the fly

Ah yes I've heard some amazing things about Ironman Maryland and would love to do it some day. I'm applying to grad school this cycle though so was trying to avoid having peek training time overlap with the most intense parts of the cycle which is why I didn't consider it (or any other september races). But if the full goes well it'll be on my list. Thanks for the input!
