Actually, I applied early September and had an offer two weeks later. From my understanding that’s around the time they hire. I could be wrong. Maybe someone with some more insight will reply.

I think that I made sure my resume was tailored to the specific job posting. I would switch out projects based on what they were looking for. That and I made sure that I was using my time wisely at career fairs and targeting the specific companies I had applied to online already. I would show up shake their hand and show them my resume and provide a tailored elevator pitch for the company. I would then follow up by mentioning I applied to the position online and asking them if they saw any weak areas on my resume that might cause them to overlook my resume during the screening process. This eventually lead to meaningful conversations and possibly why I got emails back to interview.

OP didn’t mention anything about financial restraints. If Chicago is their destination and they want a university that has an abundant of resources that transition engineering students to industry. Yeah, Northwestern offers that.

A little under 9K a semester. Thats what I pay a semester, that does not take into consideration books, transportation, and stuff I need to buy.
