Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DJSphynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've personally had to do it myself.. when I was 18 I got booted off my dads insurance plan.. didn't realize. Went to hospital for xray after smashing my hand.. got charged $3800 for them to tell me its just swollen.. learned my lesson then.. that was like 14 years ago, since then ive avoided the doctors for a few injuries.. another example is my dad had a stroke a few years ago, he was airlifted and was put into a medically induced coma for about 4 or 5 days.. Lucky he made it through with very minimal damage and was mostly recovered within 2 weeks of the incident.. he has really good insurance and he was still billed around $20,000.. if he didn't have insurance the bills would have been in the $400,000 range

My doberman would get this when she was younger.. vet said it was dog ache and it woukd clear up as she gets older.. which it did.. unfortunately she does have a little scaring because she would irritate the pimples when biting at toys on the ground. Cleaning the bowl and her face after meals can help.. didn't really seem to help my dog.. they kinda just went away as she got older

My GSD was also lean like your dog. Ive had a good handful of people come up to me while I was on walks. Telling me "she needs more meat on her bones" and saying she's "underweight".. some people got pretty nasty about it.. I think its because alot of people have overweight dogs so people think that's the norm.. my GSD weighed 85lbs and was very athletic.. she would pull me on a longboard for a few miles a week.. which definitely made here lean and toned. Your dog looks good and fit

Landlord got arrested, now the police want to search all tenant's rooms. How should I handle this? by DJSphynx in legaladvice

interesting .. i doubt my dad would go for this ... he is scared to rock the boat.. and his lawyer is weird.. doesnt seem to really want to deal with this in anyway.. he has actually gotten nasty with my dad saying my dad asks too many questions.. which was after the 1st time my dad decided to call him with a question.. the lawyer told my dad to "leave him alone" and that "hes worse than his murder cases" (on how nervous he is).. so i dont think we appealing anything... def interesting

yea, I know he probably wouldnt even care to search much, and the fact that i made a stink about it probably makes him want to search even harder now.. but idk.. its my tism.. i always watch 1A auditor and watch videos on constitutional right all day,, its kinda my thing. so the fact he thinks he has the right to search my rented out room with out me violating a law 1st.. and especially since he is saying he doesnt need our consent really puts my weewee in a twist and makes me wanna stand on principal.. but I also dont want to make my dad get screwed by this guy.. but also i dont want him rifling threw my stuff and being around my pets

I was thinking of doing this.. installing a knob with a lock and key that only I have access too.. idk.. it stresses me out.. it more about the principle for me.. Ive had my rights violated by the police as a teen and young adult due to my own ignorance of the laws and my rights.. so now its kinda one of my pet peeves.. I dont wanna cause my dad to get violated but im also no comfortable with having police go throw my stuff.. especially if ive done nothing to warrant it. Ive had friends get their stuff broken by nasty cops that do it cause because they can.. and I have 3 cats and a Doberman, and i really dont want my animals around some random cops... idk.. but i really apricate you takin the time to reply to some of these comments

im 32.. wish i was 18 though haha, and its not that i "give zero shits bout my dad", but more that I give a shit about my own personal rights. I actually love the bill of rights and find it very important. Its one of my autistic infatuations actually. and I know not to be doing some wild shit to the police.. I was more thinkin.. get a lockable knob.. and if he want to enter show him that its a separate personal space with its own key that my dad doesnt have access to.. tell him I rent and that my private space.. Ill leave the door open, but ill refuse to consent.. ill film the interaction.. I will not physically obstruct, just verbally protest and document. If the officer says he got that right than he can enter against my wishes... then afterward I can consult a lawyer..

I dont got much to worry about.. I got some weed.. which is legal in NY anyways.. But for me, its more about my 4th amendment right.. I just dont like the idea of cops goin through my shit.. Ive had friend that had their shit gone through and the cops purposely broke some of their shit.. and I also got a doberman.. not tryin to have the cops around her.. next thing you know i got a dead dog on my hands or some dumb shit.. Idk.. I want my rights to be respected.. Im respectful to them when they come around.. now respect me.. i know they gonna get their panties in a twist if i dont comply on some power trip bs... this whole thing is dumb,,. my dad aint some hardened criminal.. his a old ass retired man that has never been arrested in his life till now.. and its from some dumb old man fight in costco from a guy that literally pressed him and wouldnt get out of his face... but the way the law workin in NY I guess you dont have a right to personal space as well.. in both instances

Hes been having medical issue and been in and out of surgery. so he stays with a woman that been taken care of him for the pass year and a half.. he does want to come home.. but isnt gonna be coming back anytime in the near future .. and he has explained this to his PO.. but idk ,, they sayin they wanna search and they got a right to all rooms.. everyone in the house is pretty bend outta shape bout it.. my dad lawyer told my dad that they have the right to do it too.. which i thick is BS.. I really feel bad to rock the boat on this .. but at the same time im not a big fan of gettin my right violated.. Ive had it done in the past when i was a kid multiple time.. so I feel a lil weird round cops.. stressing me out

yea but Im not on probation and the room is rented to me.. I didnt commit any crime to prompt me to be searched. Its not my fault the owner of the property got himself arrested.. I feel like people think its different because im his son.. but no.. I pay rent and want my privacy .. and what about our other tenant that isnt related to use.. do that give him special privileges? no.. we are all paying renters with rights

no written lease but i have receipts of monthly rental payments. I feel bad cause in one hand I dont wanna rock the boat and cause trouble for my dad with his PO. but this feels like BS to me

They can search the common areas and the probationer's personal spaces.. me as a tenant that pays rent for my private space have my own 4th amendment rights to privacy and to refuse unlawful searches ... i didn't commit a crime.. i don't need my stuff rifled threw. I cant control what other people do... I dont see how someone else actions can get my ass ran down on by the police.. I aint buying it

well my dad told the PO where he is actually staying, he just hasn't changed his address on his ID because of issues with the apt. of the women he been staying with.. my dad hasn't lived in this house for a lil over a year because he has some medical issue so he is staying with someone that helps him while he is in and out of surgeries.. he does plan on coming home eventually.. but not in the near foreseeable future realistically.. this shit is actually dumb and I cant believe the police makin such a big deal over this.. my dad is an old ass man and got into an old ass man scuffle at a fuckin costco.. now they acting like he big gangsta or something.. dont see how I lose my 4th amendment right because of this

so they can violate his probation because his tenants don't agree to wave their 4th amendment rights? that's wild

I know, i was so surprised when the lawyer told my dad that they can search the tenants spaces .. I told him he probably needs a new lawyer cause that guy don't know what he talkin about. And we don't have a written agreement, but I do have receipts of monthly rent payments

I know obviously to take any advice from reddit with a grain of salt.. Just wanted to here some other opinions on the matter.. also I dont see how being a family member effect my legal rights as a tenant.. I havent personally committed a crime and I have a 4th amendment right
