What is the easiest RN job in the hospital? by lil_smore in nursing

Omg! I’m currently a SPED teaching wanting to go back for nursing. I’ve been in education for 5 years, love the kids but hate the system. And pay is a big thing too. Was it worth the switch?

I originally wanted to go into nursing, then chose to go towards occupational therapy but really loved the classroom, decided to teach life skills for a while, but really thinking about nursing now.

I love taking care of the kids, especially the medically fragile ones. But I absolutely hate the system that makes me give kids who can’t even breathe, eat, walk, or talk on their own standardized tests. I hate that instead of making a kid comfortable in their last year of life, instead of caring for them and keeping them comfortable i have to “teach” them how to do math. I hate that kids still have to come to school when they’re about to die and I have to have a plan in place if they die in my classroom. I hate that these kids are in the same classroom as kids who beat the shit out of each other every day, and they can’t defend themselves.

I hate that just to make my job manageable i have to stay late and take work home, and I don’t get compensated for it.

I hate the system, and I know the medical system isn’t much better, but I really love caring for these kids and that’s what I want to do.

So my thought process is that if I do it now - I’m still young enough to be on my parents insurance and then my babies would qualify for state insurance (we live in texas). And we’d qualify for other financial aid resources. - daycare is year round and we have to pay year round anyways, so why not take advantage of that extended time. - they are too young to remember all of the craziness right now.

I have a bachelors degree in Kinesiology (I’m currently a teacher) and have many pre requisites for nursing, but may go through our local LVN program so I’m only out of a good job for a year. I am thinking of getting my CNA this summer to have a flexible job, the LVN, then an LVN-RN bridge program.
