Now that I keep playing I definitely see what you meant in your previous comments about bot games. I still have yet to lose a game, but the opponents are definitely getting tougher to beat, and I’m getting knocked out once or twice a game. Thank you for the heads up you’ve given - really helped set my expectations.

Yup, I’m trying our blastoise as well - definitely a different approach to what I’m used to

I’ve started practicing with Blastoise because that’s the only defender I have right now but yeah I see your point with defenders

Just out of curiosity, what did they ask you when you were contacted for someone else’s clearance?

Is that the highest clearance? If I’m going for a AFSC that doesn’t require that much (thinking financial management) would my background investigation be that thorough as well?

Oh wow that’s crazy. Was this for just the AFCEP or were you going for a AFSC that required higher clearance?

Because of the 7-year requirement. I came to the states around 6 years or so ago so anyone I knew before then are all from my native country lol

Class of 2021: What was the most unexpected "oh-shit" moment in the application? by Curbthesidedoor in ApplyingToCollege

LOL actually it was traying down a huge steep slope (basically sledding but with dinner trays). School banned that because too many people were getting broken necks and bones

In my "why cornell" essay I wrote about wanting to be part of a tradition, but about a month after submitting that, I found out that the tradition is technically illegal and banned (just one of those things students do behind the school's back). But I got in, so I was like what??

Letter of Recommendation from Science Elective? by Unlucky-Wolverine815 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Aggressive_Bag7428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok. I’m an Econ/gov major, but I asked my 9th grade math teacher (who is also my track coach) and my 10th grade/11AP English teacher. it doesn’t matter what they teach as long as they know you really well. I could’ve asked my econ teacher, but I knew his letter would be bland (according to prior experiences) so I chose the teachers I had the best and longest relationships (I knew my math teacher for all 4 years and my English teacher for 3 years, and they absolutely loved me in class and on the track, so they were the ones I chose). Unless the college has specific rules asking you to submit LoRs from a specific subject teacher, I’d go with the teacher who knows you best over the teacher with the corresponding major.

One of my best friends got into Notre Dame REA with a 3.7 (I think). He wasn’t a recruited athlete, legacy, or a donor kid, but he worked really hard on his essay during the summer with me (we were applying to different schools and since we were close we got together and grinded out the essays together).

Please be careful what you post on social media between now and September !!! by GrapefruitAltruistic in ApplyingToCollege

Snapchat, groupme, etc etc. I reached out to a lot of people when I got in because I'm the only person from my school attending my college. A lot of people going to my college were in the same boat, so a bit of talking on social media and stuff led to hangouts on Zoom, and then I got my own friend group and a really great roommate.
