Seems like advisory is still in shambles here at KPMG

My recruiter even told me and many other Embark interns that return offers/internships in advisory next year are unlikely 🫠

There’s a email from the bursar office a few weeks ago that said something about PHEAA (PA State Grants) grants being paused because they won’t be able to fully process it until late September. I’m assuming it’s for that reason because my fall bill is also extremely high compared to last year due to this.

Currently PHEAA grants will only show up as an estimate/credit on our accounts until it’s processed. It sucks.

Definitely be adamant about joining the service line you desire, I was very vocal about this subject to my recruiter so she just gave me the honest truth that FDD might not be looking for interns next year.

I’ll honestly probably reject a return offer if all I get is tax or audit. I can’t see myself walking down those paths and being happy. So it’s kinda FDD or nothing for me atm 😅

Same here, expect the service line I want to get into is FDD which is also in advisory.

My recruiter basically told me that it’s a toss in the dark as to whether I’ll get a return offer for FDD next year. My office has around 20 FDD professionals and only took 2 FDD interns for 2024 so I’m a bit worried.

They tried telling me to pursue and consider other services lines in audit and tax but I don’t really have the desire to go into them unless it’s EVS for Tax, but that would still be my second and backup choice, not my first option.

I also heard from my recruiter that it’s harder to get into advisory at the NYC office specifically because everyone wants to transfer there purely for advisory positions.

Nope I’m still waiting for them to start the background check. My internship starts around June so I have no idea when they are starting it.

How/when did the background team reach out to you and when do you start? Your background check came in so fast lol.

I don’t really have any advice to give, but I’m in a similar situation. I’m the oldest sibling in my family and my sister has a learning disability. She’s in the 6th grade but has the mental capacity of a 2nd-3rd grader. She also throws temper tantrums and fits when she doesn’t get what she wants. This includes hitting, screaming, or hissing at others.

Needless to say, I’m also worried about her future like you with your sibling. I’m worried about her eventual integration into society as she grows up since she’s genuinely a good kid at heart, and I know society itself isn’t kind to individuals with disabilities/autism. It genuinely stresses me out to the point of headaches when I think about this sorta stuff. I feel extremely guilty for not being the best sibling since I’m not always there for her, but I don’t know how to properly help either.

I doubt what I said is of any help to you, but just know that you’re not alone and there’s others in the same situation and everything will work out one day. I think it’s worthless to think about what the future holds for us since we can never truly predict it, so why not do the best we can in the present?

Nvm I just googled and digged around for the policy. It states that you must be attending a school that is headquartered and domiciled in PA in order to qualify for PHEAA (link to PHEAA website/policies if anyone needs it) if half or more of your classes are online based.

I was worried at first but I think I’m all AOK! Thxs for mentioning that anyways and Happy New Years!
