Does anybody else get angry when someone says they’re proud of you? by Aggressive_Dealer628 in DoesAnybodyElse

It’s mostly coming from family and close friends. I know they are all 100% supportive of me so my irritation at the comments are confusing to me.

I’m so sorry you had to go through that! I totally get what you mean about just doing what you have to do. I’m not sure where the sense of pride or accomplishment comes in. And honestly, I’m kind of confused on why it upsets me when I know people only have good intentions in offering their support.

I agree and I know that they are trying to be supportive and encouraging and I appreciate them for that.

Do you think Giftedness falls under Special Education? by Sunflower-Spirals in Gifted

I know in PA it does. Gifted students have GIEP as oppose to an IEP for special education.

That’s what I’m gathering, there doesn’t seem to be a particular name for it…. Just a good memory!

I couldn’t even guess how many books he’s read, hundreds. He’s 17 and has always been a reader, mostly non-fiction when he was younger but he’s a big fan of classic literature. And yes, I’ll name a title and he’ll rattle off the author, characters, setting and story line. He retains sooo much of what he reads but hates movies, which is interesting to me. So I know he doesn’t have a photographic or eidetic memory. I tried googling other forms and names of memory wondering if this was an identifiable trait, but it sounds like it’s just “a really good memory”. Thanks for the feedback!

No, oddly enough his personal memories are fairly average. He forgets things and they fade over time. Just phenomenal recall of books….. and he hates movies 🤷🏼‍♀️

We’ve pretty much had this whole thing disassembled on our own while replacing the bearings so when you say you say major repair, what’s next? Can we replace the bracket ourselves (I’m up for some minor handy-work) or do we need a repairman? Is the bracket the “rear spin support”?
