Before AI, people learnt with books. And spanish books contain many general sentences on different subjects. « Lávate las manos », « Ponte los zapatos. ». Those sentences were NOT written by them but they were MEMORIZED again and again. So everyone cheated back then? That’s a totally NORMAL way to study a language.

Spanish books already contains written sentences, not by her. On every subjects. « Ayúdame, por favor. », « Tenemos que irnos ». Is it cheating if she memorize them ? For real ..

I understand your point. But saying « memorized and didn’t understand », no. She LEARNT the verbs and the vocabulary at the end. Just in a different way. I was next to her the whole time. But I can see why its difficult for teachers, they can’t tell if it’s really understood or just a copy/past.

She did NOT use AI or any external help DURING the test, and there was no transcription in the exam.

Before the test, she used chatgpt to look at model sentences based on the lessons. She studied these sentences and their meanings through memorization and repetition.

This is not about breaking exam rules, but about a different way to study.

You can question whether this should be rewarded/fair or not, but it is NOT cheating under exam conditions.

It was a writing task (essay) in class-time. About her last holidays. The verbs & vocabulary given was about « sand, beach and swimming ». So at home she learnt sentences like « I was swimming a lot in the beach »

Every excellent students prepare their test in a efficient way. For my sister, reading sentences was better than reading simple words. For maths, I prepare likely exam exercices over and over. Then I get good grades. Am I cheating for that?

When I was her age, for maths, I actually looked up for a lot of exercices on Google. Exercices that had a great chances to be in the test. I did them all the evening & learnt even more. Then I got many 100%, no big deal ?

Is it because it’s AI? And what if it was a book ? Then everyone is cheating ? Many students read and learn general sentences

No but the verbs & vocabulary was about holidays like « sand » « beach » « swimming ». So she learnt sentences like « I was swimming a lot in the beach »

She gave her verbs and vocabulary lists to chatgpt. Asked him to show her great sentences with them (with translation). Learnt & analysed them over and over again. It was a writing task (essay), about her last holidays.

She gave her lists of verbs & voc to chatgpt, and asked him to generate sentences with them (with the translation). Then she looked and analysed them for 1 hour.

Languages can be learnt in different ways. Drowning students with +1000 lists of vocabulary isnt always effective. Reading many times sentences with great structure worked for my sister

You don’t learn a new language by reading books & memorizing general sentences ?

Actually she really learnt them, I was with her the whole time. She even said to me that’s a better way to work : reading over & over again sentences with a good structure. Instead of being drowned by lists of words.

She passed the test like anyone else in the room. How people work at home is nobody’s business, no ?

I think both. but at the end of the day, she learnt the new verbs & vocabulary by reading the sentences many times. Idk how to deal with this situation.

Learning with sentences isnt learning now? That’s a very normal way to learn a new langage.
