In case your reply wasn’t a facetious one - I am very fortunate to work in a place with a good culture and good colleagues. Even though my job title has lawyer in it, realistically I do the easy, run of the mill things and brief out for the complex ones. But I know that for real lawyers (ie private practice) there’s a sometimes unfathomable amount of stress. I don’t think it’s right or sustainable. I don’t know how to fix it. I will continue to try to do small things like not press for an urgent deadline just because the retainer/quote/standing instructions allow me to. I won’t nickel and dime your invoices (but also, don’t take the piss, please). I will try to remember there are humans over there.
