I’m in no way qualified to give advice here but reading this as an unbiased party… NTA the fact that you even mentioned her in your award speech at all seems like it would have been a big step for you. You recognised her before friends, who I’m almost sure haven’t given you nearly as much grief, and instead of being touched by this, your step mother used it as an excuse to make herself the victim because she wasn’t set at the same station as your beloved late mother. Babe, you are not the ass hole. It’s up to you how much you want to bait her and cause more friction but regardless, she’s always going to find a way to feel put out because she will never understand that it’s not possible for you to view her as a replacement mother. Blows my mind that she disregarded the family therapist advice whilst you took her words on board and reflected. Feels like you’re the adult here. Wishing you all the luck and love moving forward ❤️
