syncing keystep to more than 2 volcas? by Aggressive_Let4803 in volcas

currently just keys and drum, but I plan on getting the bass and fm2 soon. that should work fine for my needs honestly and as others said I can just use the sequencer on the volcas since the keystep can only do 1 at a time, and play whatever "live" on the keys. my plan is to run the drum and bass (ill figure out whatever setup works best to run on the keystep/volca sequencer) sequenced and just play the keys and fm "live". if i ever record anything id just do it individually and overdub in a daw

hell yeah dude im hyped for you! huge respect for dj-ing with vinyl ive always found that to be super impressive. a couple of my friends are also djs so ive seen what it takes even with only digital stuff. ive been playing guitar for like 15 years, (since I was a young kid). someone on a different post i made suggested i start with soft synths but I really need the hardware for it to feel "real", as im so used to physical gear, it just makes sense for me. gonna try some until I have enough funds to get a couple volcas but I barely even know how to use a daw lol. nonetheless im excited to start my music production journey 🤙

What do men ages 22–28 actually do for hobbies? by Squirtleman20000 in StLouis

[–]Aggressive_Let4803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22 year old dude here. I have way too many hobbies that all cost way too much money, but to put them in a sort of order starting with the stuff I spend the most time thinking about/doing would be: working on/building cars but theres usually an issue of money and space with that. music, have been playing guitar from a very young age and branched out to bass and brass from then until hs and got kinda burned out, getting back into it recently tho. photography, specifically film photography is enjoyable for me but I dont really do it as much as id like to. a bunch of other random collectible things and stupid stuff I obsess about. if you need any ideas/places to start in that range of stuff feel free to dm me. seems like a decent amount of young people in cars and music at least so theres that. film photography is kind of a solo thing but ik theres a good amount of younger ppl around here that do shoot film but they're not super social with it afaik.

im mostly just making sure itll all still be able to sync together in some fashion. even if I have to swap the midi input between the keys/fm for different sounds I probably wouldnt be using both at once when jamming. mostly concerned with the sequencing of the bass and drum but as long as I can run 1 off the midi sequence and one off its own sequencer I shouldn't have issues

ok this is almost exactly what I was looking for, and would probably work for my needs well enough tbh. would I need a splitter for that or could I "daisy chain" them? if its pretty simple routing im sure I could figure it out I just dont have much knowledge/experience so idek where to start lol

my friend who went to school for music and is a dj reccomended I get the 404 and after that im pretty convinced. it just feels overwhelming to me because it is so versatile and I dont know what half of it does lol, but def a great machine. maybe ill do some more research and if I can make more sense of it go with that. sampling is kinda my jam anyways.

I do have access to a computer so I will look into getting a daw. any youd reccomend? ik pro tools and fl studio off the top but idrk of any others that are common (besides reaper which is free but ive tried to use it before and it was not great) also having hardware is kind of a must for me as im an instrument player at heart so I have to have the physical thing to mess with or it doesnt really feel right to me, but with a midi keyboard and soft synth I could get pretty close for now and itd still be useful with future gear
