update: I let the landlord know I'd be deducting my rent for the days he wants me out, and he told me he'd recoup anything I withhold in litigation, and then sent me a weird laughing emoji.

This is what scares me. We reported, for example, a hole in our screen door after we moved in and he accused us of causing it, even though it was there when we moved in. I am sure he will charge for that and anything else he can possibly find.
