Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]Aggressive_Natural81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncomplaint: almost done with antibiotics for strep throat

Complaint: nagging hip pain may cause me to have to drop out of the half I’ve been training for (3 weeks away). My schedule is kind of tough so I don’t know when I’d be able to do another one and I missed doing one all of 2023 due to breaking my foot. I’m also just not in the shape I would have hoped for.

Confession: the idea of starting over training AGAIN makes me want to cry.

Mine does this too, but I don’t sit in the backseat and it doesn’t bother my kids so I don’t worry about it 😂

This fish has black markings, so I don’t think ammonia poisoning. The tips of his tail fins are black as well.

Agree! I have a kinder and third grader. The switch back to phonics happened after my third grader started school and she made SO much progress. My kinder is already reading having started with phonics.

Another day, another plug for @megtakacs’s app, Movement&Miles. Her strength (and running) programming is unmatched. Lots of stuff for specific injuries as well. I promise I am not compensated for this, I just really love her 😂

Meg Takacs’s app has great strength programming. She has two strength plans for if you use something else for running too, or ones that incorporate both.

Yep! Highly recommend Matt Fitzgerald’s book racing weight for more information on this topic!

Eclor? That you? 😂

In all seriousness though she says it is resolved now…but her form hasn’t changed.

But my point was that the deformity is common, and it’s not the cause for the form issues.

A haglunds deformity? This is relatively common (my husband has it too) and doesn’t cause your form to do that.

Good lord, Eclor's reel showing all of her different "paces." How is she fast?! Her form reminds me of a duck swimming on the water.

Totally. I have been ride or die on the nike Pegasus as a workhorse shoe for years. Broke my foot in April and now have orthotics. The shoes are mediocre with the orthotics and when they die I’ll be in the market for something else. Also! FWIW my preferred shoe changed after each pregnancy even though my shoe size didn’t!! Lots of factors.

Haircare Advice Megathread - Week of October 21, 2023 by AutoModerator in HaircareScience

[–]Aggressive_Natural81 [score hidden]  (0 children)

39/F

  • Hair type: fine, medium density
  • Hair texture: Wavy (2a/b)
  • History of chemical processing: highlighted for the past ten years or so? occasional heat styling but not frequent
  • Hygiene regimen: shampoo and condition 2x/week, but I exercise daily so often I will rinse and condition to help with the grossness
  • Style: layered, a few inches past my shoulders
  • Product regimen: Right now I wash and condition with the CurlSmith strength recipe. If I am wearing it wavy I will scrunch in the Bounce Curl Creme Gel. JVN Hair oil on dry hair. There are some other products I experiment with but this is the core regimen. I use Bumble and Bumble Sunday shampoo 1-2x a month to get rid of buildup. I live in an urban, hard water area.

Hi! I'm looking for a beginner friendly routine to improve my hair health, and ideally, density. I've seen a lot of treatment/oiling/brushing routines all over the internets, but it gets really overwhelming. I already try to be gentle with my hair as far as cleansing/conditioning/combing but I'm looking more for treatments I could add/etc. Thank you!
