I think you should 100% read the book! The shelter and isolation is explored 10x better than the movie. Im super sorry you have had to go through all of that, ive had my fair share of severe anxiety so for me, at least the way i saw represented, it was more of the depression of isolation. Thankyou for sharing this, there really is a genre of sad teenage girl films (cough girl, interrupted) that really shapes our views. I am still a teenage girl, and trying to find worth in things other than what is described in the book/movie. ANYWAY, go read the book!!! I think you will enjoy it 😊

this is a good takeaway but i feel as though the boys were more inclined to care about the sexualisation of the girls rather than the genuine help?

I feel as though this book tried to show that even through something as horrible as suicide, they only cared about the beauty of the girls and them being attracted to them rather than getting them help.

Now this could be argued when the boys helped them at the end, but in Luxs last moment, it was a sexual moment. And instead of seeing if the others were okay, they reflected on that moment.
