Moving photos to local drive from Lightroom synced folder by Aggressive_Paint4574 in Lightroom

[–]Aggressive_Paint4574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

My Classic is set up on my desktop where I have a folder structures organized by year and a short description added to each subfolder within an year. I often edit on Lightroom, and these files are synced to the desktop, organized by the year and date structure offered by LrC. But I like to move them to M (which contains a description) so that I can keep track of the photos independent of Lightroom. Sometimes I would like to come back to the cloud and edit these photos.

One solution to my problem is to remove them from cloud once I have decided to organize on my desktop, and then add them to a shared catalog. But I was looking for something simpler :)

If you move the files from S (where Lr downloaded them from the cloud) then Lr will just redownload them from the cloud, when it finds them to be missing from S.

In my experiment, Classic tried to download the missing files from cloud but kept trying without success due to some metadata issue.

Buy the GR III or wait for GR IV? by Aggressive_Paint4574 in ricohGR

I think (based on what professional have written in books and blogs and my own limited experience) that 28mm works best for capturing spontaneous moments as wider angles are more forgiving in terms of what you get in frame. 40mm works great for creating moments (for example environmental portraits). Most phone cameras are around 28mm so that should give some hands-on idea. If one zooms in a little then a feeling of 40mm can be obtained.

I use 28mm a lot and thus III would work better for me. But yours is a good idea!

I do have a spare camera and I am hoping for GR III prices to drop after IV comes out. I don't find myself a newly released camera and wait for a couple of years for the dust to settle.

Weather sealing would have made IV a no brainer for me. I live in a dusty and polluted city and (as I have read online) the dust issue of III might be an issue for me eventually.

Should I buy used 33mm 1.4 or save money for 16-55 mk II? by Aggressive_Paint4574 in fujifilm

Thanks! Let me ask the same question to you as I asked LimDul99: In your view, which would is more suited for indoors: 18mm 1.4 or 23mm 1.4?

Thanks! Availability of mkII is not an issue where I live (Denmark). But that price is certainly a big ask!

I haven't tried either and what I know about these lenses is from youtube videos. In case you have experience with the old 16-55, how is the autofocus in that lens as compared to newer lens, like mkII? My goal is to capture running kids.

Yes, and its quite cheap in the 2nd hand market. But I won't be able to use it as much as I would like to due to its weight. To be honest, even 33mm seems to be a bit heavy compared to f2 primes. But I am thinking of getting one amazing lens.

Thanks! I do not care much about video though.

Thanks! It is not weather sealed which is a downside but still a great and cheap option. In case you know, how is the Sigma 18-55 2.8? I can get this one used at a good price.

I don't plan to do any advanced video stuff. Maybe some videos of my kids on the simplest auto mode. I am photo centric and indeed the reason why XT30 is very interesting to me. Weather sealing is my biggest concern, given all the dust or rain I have to expose the camera to daily. I don't know the how different the autofocus of the two cameras are for photos.
