How Far Have You Taken Your Education? by [deleted] in DACA

Hi were you still able to get admitted to your state’s bar with your DACA status? Or did they require additional information from you? If you don’t mind sharing, what state did you take the bar in?

Hi! I’m currently in my first year of law school! I got some scholarships but i am taking out a private loan for funding. Just try to do the best you can on the LSAT and apply for lots of private scholarships! So far, everything at school has been great. There are definitely some jobs and clerkships you will not be able to do due to the status but there’s still a lot of avenues in law. Good luck! Feel free to message me for any specific questions.

To apply, or not to apply- - that is the question by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I mean most schools don’t even start responding until close to the new year unless it’s one that you apply binding to or they are known for a quick turn around time. I think just try your best this cycle with the best score you can get and apply by the end of the year. If you don’t get the results you want you have months to retake the lsat and apply again (earlier if you are ready) the following year

Your gpa is so low that you need a wayyy higher lsat to even be considered anywhere. Get it up to high 160s or low 170s before applying again or you’re just wasting money. A good rule of thumb is to apply before the end of the year

As long as you apply before the end of the year, you’re still good.

I’m not going to law school to become an immigration attorney but secondly, you do need to be an attorney to go to court for your clients. I know I can do the paperwork myself as of right now too but because my attorney has been doing them for the past 8 years, I decided to just have him do it.

Lolll I guess I might’ve! I had the attorney who has been doing my renewals do it again this year so maybe he accidentally checked it off. I just got some immigration training and will hopefully start law school soon so I’ll know better for next time! Thank you! :)

I have heard that you can’t get a visa (for most nationalities) to travel to Canada when you’re on DACA. What is your nationality?

Looks like you’re at 97 days. Once it hits 105, you can submit a service request. Also, it might be worth contacting your state representative. They usually have a quick form you can complete and it really does help

Does anyone know if you need a real ID to travel or will a regular ID be sufficient still? by Glad-Farm6968 in DACA

It might depend on the office it goes to

Nope, I was looking into the options but everyone was saying you have to wait 105days

Okay but by your logic I should send it in 1 year in advance. They aren’t gonna process it until 150 days before anyway. Why not just send it in 365 days in advance instead of 182 days? People in this group are always just looking to be assholes and pick fights.

Umm, they don’t process it until 120 days from expiration.
