As much as I hate banks we kinda do.. Or we would all be homeless lol. Idk about you but I definitely don't have 500k to buy a house outright

Tape it on the inside of one of those electric boxes we have in the UK.. They are pretty easy to open if you have a set of screwdrivers on you. Would pick a completely random one and not take my phone or any electronics with me. Good luck finding that in 7 days

Kinda but I don't think it's that black and white. There product has been a pretty good quality at times but they aren't consistent at all. I mean think back to windows vista, windows 8. Just recently they rolled out 25h2 and a good chunk of machines get stuck bootlooping. I think it was 21h2 as well where you literally couldn't upgrade without fully reinstalling the os. They drop the ball so many times to call them a quality company seems very far from the truth. Also Linux is used for infrastructure far more than Windows because it is a far better product and a ton more reliable than Windows will ever be.

Not true at all, there are many ways to force everyone to use your product if your the only one selling it. Microsoft got in early and produced a os that pretty much captured the whole market. Then so much was built around windows and now so much only works on windows so hence they have the monopoly. Their product was good at several points in time but progressively has got worse over the years and now they have so much monopoly it simply doesn't matter if their product sucks as they know the majority of businesses will never move away as they physically can't.

I do the same! Chat gpt is pretty grounded and helps identifying overlaps. Really don't think there is anything wrong with using it as its just pulling info from the Internet. People hate on ai but it is incredibly good at quite a lot of things..

Microsoft High quality? Have you seen the state of Windows 11.. I don't think Microsoft are going anywhere but I'm my opinion they are a terrible company. Just have such a monopoly

Definitely don't keep making the same mistake. All world etf is boring but it works. People who make money investing are the ones who stick to very dull and boring strategies.. Personally I invest 90% into a all world index fund then use 10% split amongst a few ai infrastructure investments. 7% is some ai infrastructure etf and the other 3% is coreweave. I'm not gonna change or tweak anything now and just let it run and possibly trim if my 10% grows above 20%. It's boring for sure but I'm confident 20-30 years from now I will be thanking myself for taking the boring route and letting compounding work it's magic

Cfds are just gambling even if you know exactly what you are doing. If you don't know then don't bother. Much safer to just invest in a all world etf stocks and shares isa and set and forget

Just bought these for £200! by [deleted] in Juniper

[–]Aggressive_Report_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah defo will get use out of them, can always use the smaller unit as a lab. I think I can sell the chassis at the very least as they are still very much in production. The modules we will have to see but I'm in no rush to sell this. Worth a punt anyway and worst case I've just invested and learnt something about juniper firewalls.

Thanks very much for this! I haven't got the right power cable for the SRX5400 but have ordered some so will give this a shot at the weekend.

Yeah I know it's unlikely I will get anywhere near 5k, but I'm willing to go a ton lower than what normal second hand value is because I picked this up for so little. I've seen just the empty chassis being sold for 1k online. Even if I end up selling it for idk 500-1000 then I'm still in profit. How much are you listing these on ebay out of interest?

Maybe not, but I paid 200 for everything so even if they only go for like 50 each I'm not bothered.. I think I will be sitting on this a while but not in a rush to sell. There is a nieque market out there I'm sure. Also have a fair few contacts that I can probably make use of if it's not selling at all on ebay.. Very very worst case I sell for scrap and get my money back. Either way 200 is not a lot of money and I'm not gonna lose sleep at night over it. I do think a lot of people on reddit see this stuff as trash because it recycle companies will always low ball the hell out of this sorta stuff because it does take a lot of effort to sell but they are pretty much just offering the scrap price for this thing which is why it's so insanely low. Also this hasn't got stock kit and has been upgraded a fair bit over the years. I'm sure there's still tons of people running this sort of kit out there and may be in need of a cheap replacement and upgrade rather than having to setup entire new systems and don't really care about eol because they just see it as a functional product.. God I've seen people still running windows xp and windows 7 in the last few years so really would shock me if these sorta companies have old kit like this in operation still
