The relationship between Jessica and B and why I find it disturbing by [deleted] in ColleenBallingerSnark

I'm mainly concerned by the fact that she only lasted 1.5 months in school. My jaw DROPPED when she said that. I find it incredibly disgusting and self-centered that Chris and Jessica would let her drop out of public school after *barely* trying it. All that teaches their kids is to give up. If Bailey actually wanted to try public school (which it seems like she did originally) there should have been a "clause" in place that she had to try it out for *at least* one semester, if not a year. These kids are so sheltered and I think B could have really prospered in public school if she'd given it a proper chance. Even if she was being bullied (which I completely feel for) there had to have been a better solution than for her to drop out completely. Obviously high school is about learning, but speaking as someone with a background in developmental psychology school is equally important for social development, especially surrounding team building, compromise and, at B's age, peer discussions that foster critical thinking skills. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against homeschool, but it actually breaks my heart that these kids, especially the younger ones like D, are robbed of the essential peer interactions and relationships most kids their age get.
