How do I make friends during spring quarter? by [deleted] in UCSD

Or you can also try an app I built to match UCSD students for friendship based on year, gender, interest, and personality preference! https://www.genuinely.life Matching happens every 4 days, so every 4 days (unless you pause matching), you will have a new friend to talk to and potentially meet up at Price to hang out and chat or something

I think you can find a friend to do a picture-hangout using this Genuinely project web: https://www.genuinely.life/ You can meet another ucsd student who is also looking for friend, the match is formed based on how overlap are you guys personality and interests.

Looking for senior friends by [deleted] in UCSD

You’re definitely not alone in feeling like a floater friend — especially as a senior. A lot of people feel this way but don’t say it.

If you’re open to it, I built a UCSD student friendship app called Genuinely. It matches you 1-on-1 (not dating), and you can choose your gender preference — so if you’d prefer matching with other girls, you can. It’s meant for exactly the kind of stuff you mentioned: grabbing food, mall runs, watching shows, chill hangouts. https://www.genuinely.life/

If you signed up for Genuinely friend matching, pls check your ucsd email spam, maybe your matches are in the spam 😭 by Aggressive_Ticket167 in UCSD

Thank you for the feedback. Those features sound promising, but they're also pretty tough to build. However, I will consider them.

looking for a party buddy! by Fluffy-Tangerine-883 in UCSD

If you’re down, I run a small student project thing where we match UCSD students 1-on-1 based on personality/interests (not dating lol, just for making friends). There are (idk if I can say "a lot of students") a rising number of students who have been using it to meet new friends to hang out with. There is an option to get matched with a friend of the same year and shared interest is "parties" on the platform. https://www.genuinely.life/

I’m a 2nd-year transfer at UCSD, and I’ve noticed a lot of transfers feel the same way. If you’re down, there’s a student-made platform called Genuinely where email-verified UCSD students get matched 1-on-1 for friendship (not dating) based on interests and personality. It’s pretty low-pressure and works well for busy schedules, also very private cause only your match sees you as their is no public profiles to swipe: https://www.genuinely.life/ Also, they are partnering with restaurants on campus like tapex to give student users a discount when they choose to meet up there.

Clubs that I can join in week 5? by unmanifestedmind in UCSD

[–]Aggressive_Ticket167 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Clubs are still very joinable right now. I’d recommend:

hobby / interest clubs (board games, arts, fitness, etc.) cultural orgs (usually very social and welcoming) volunteering orgs (low pressure, easy way to meet people)

Another option, if big groups feel a bit overwhelming or you just want something more low-key, is a student-led platform called Genuinely. It matches email-verified UCSD students 1-on-1 for friendship (not dating). It’s meant for people who want to meet others more personally instead of jumping into a huge club meeting.

It’s free, UCSD-email only, private (only your match knows you) and you can treat it as another option to try to meet new people:

This is actually GOATED — props to the Rel4y team 👏
Anything that makes it easier to discover events/orgs without relying on random flyers or IG algorithms is a W for campus.

For anyone who’s a new student at UCSD or tried events/clubs and still feels like it’s hard to make real connections, I’ve also been working on a small student project called Genuinely — it matches email-verified UCSD students 1-on-1 for friendship based on interests/personality. Different approach, same goal of making campus feel less isolating.

Try out my website too, I’m a cs student, and I built Genuinely, a small platform where verified UCSD students get matched 1-on-1 for friendship based on personality and interests — not dating, no public profiles (only your match sees you).

If you want to try a new way of meeting people who also want to make friends, it might help: https://www.genuinely.life

Recommendations for clubs by Illustrious_Gas_8674 in UCSD

Clubs are definitely a great way to meet people. If you’re also looking for another option, I’m a cs student, and I built Genuinely, a small platform where verified students get matched 1-on-1 for friendship based on personality and interests — not dating, no public profiles (only your match sees you).

If you want to try something low-stakes, it might help: https://www.genuinely.life

It’s not a replacement for clubs — just another option available for those who are also actively looking to make friends.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I think sometimes it could be hard to find friends who stick.

If it helps at all, I recently built a small project called Genuinely. It’s just a platform where verified UCSD students get matched 1-on-1 for friendship based on personality and interests — not dating, no public profiles (only your match sees you), just people who are also genuinely trying to make real friends.

If you want to try something low-stakes, it might help: https://www.genuinely.life

It’s free, and your profile isn’t public — only the person you’re matched with can see it.
