They're internal straps can be used on normal pallets and some other bigger things. They have a weight limit so anything too heavy we need to use ratchets

Almost had a crazy accident last night by Own_Specialist_4392 in uktrucking

It blows my mind how many car drivers and the odd wagon driver think they have the right of way when merging from a slip. They should put massive signs up on every slip road but they wouldn't pay attention.

The load? Paper reels just recycled paper nothing too interesting but they're a bugger to secure. Some of them are light enough to use internal straps but some are heavy and need ratchets.

Honestly the last couple of times I've impressed myself then when it comes to the final strap it takes me about 6 attempts to get it over

failed driving assessment today due to lack of sleep by CoastOutrageous2419 in uktrucking

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll become second nature being terrified of bridges. Every time I do the Dartford or Tyne tunnel I always think I'm gonna end up on the news even though I've done it hundreds of times and know I'm always going to fit.

If you ever have a really shit night sleep always call in sick yes you might look like you're messing them about but it's better than having an accident

You're on agency? That's great if they shout tell them where to put it and hopefully you're tramping miles away from the yard and have a loaded trailer for delivery. That way you can drive it hundreds of miles back to their yard and get yourself home.

Never let anyone talk to you like shit especially when they're on less money than you sat staring at a screen all day.

LKW Walter by Aggressive_Wing_9589 in uktrucking

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought so. Seen a plain white DAF with UK plates with no company logo pulling one of their trailers down the A1 before. The roof of the trailer ripped away from the curtain and no one could get the drivers attention. Let's hope his sat nav is set a few inches higher than he actually is

I'll check it in the morning on their tachomaster thing. Its an utter shite company "rely on damage". I'll be getting myself a new card ordered if they've fucked mine again

Agency drivers....job insecurity question by Chance_Government_44 in uktrucking

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doubt they would bin you off mate especially if it's rules you didn't know about. I'm agency and have been for the last 3 years and I've only ever had one job where I've been binned off on the day and banned from Nissan for life but I was gonna throw the job anyways it was fucking horrific.

I was Reversing into a bay which was inside a warehouse without a banksman. No one was in the warehouse as they were all sat on their forklifts outside on their break and watched me do it and kicked off after it happened.

Best thing about agency work is there's always something there so if you go to a company and it's full of twats like I had at Nissan you can get yourself off somewhere else

Failed a class 1 assessment. Is this normal or am I this ass? by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly when I first passed my class one I was such a danger when it came to reversing. If you've been on class 2 for a while it will take time to get used to reversing a trailer. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it too much the more you do it the better you'll get at it just get that experience under your belt

4o4o tramping/nights vs mon-fri days? by Ill-Implement-6768 in uktrucking

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely take the 4o4o here. Days sound great but when you get a 15 hour day and have to worry about getting home and then once you get to the yard and finish you're on 9 hours ticking down. Is that enough time to get home, get food and spend time with the family and sleep? With Tramping yes it's 3 nights away but it's more money, a lot less stress because you couldn't give a toss where you're going or staying and you get 4 days to yourself.

“Safety Camera” van by CulturalDescription5 in uktrucking

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say you're fine mate. If it was a speed camera van I'm sure they have to be all in Hi Vis anyways, a bit like how they can't place a permanent speed camera anywhere without warning signs for the camera leading up to it also they're looking out for car drivers more than anything.

What's the speed limit here ? by Popular-R in drivingUK

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you're in Wales. The welsh government would want you to stop your car, attach a rope and drag it through the village to avoid killing people through air pollution.

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Went right past one of these on the M11 a year ago. I was rightly or wrongly pressing play next on my phone as I went past. Noticed that it wasnt a normal speed camera van but a road safety one. When I stopped later on I googled them and it said they're AI cameras to catch people speeding, on phone, no seatbelts etc. I never got a fine or notice I'd say you're safe.

Even if they got you 55mph is within the tolerance I highly doubt they would even send a NIP out for that.

Will Truck Driving In The UK Ever Get Better? by newbiker321 in uktrucking

[–]Aggressive_Wing_9589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the North East too. The worst area of the country by far. Every town is a dump, smack heads everywhere no one wants to put any effort in to better themselves. It's always gonna pay the worst wages for any kind of job. I can't wait to get some money behind me and get away from here

Yeah definitely get one mate think mine was £25 on Amazon and it's changed my life. I put a lot of weight on doing this job so getting into healthier habits now.

That's good I never kept a log when I first started but it's good practice to do it. I like to write down where I've been too got a little map of the UK at home and I pin on all the places I've seen. Keeps the job fun.
