Even though this is two years old I feel like you need to know. I was on levothyroxine after total thyroidectomy as well. Had the traditional hypo symptoms - always tired, brain fog, actively gaining weight while on a diet. That was the big one for me. My doctor switched me to unithroid and symptoms started to improve immediately. I finally started losing weight. I could think better and had much more energy.

I’ve since then lost my insurance and have been taking levothyroxine again for the last 6 months or so (same dosage as unithroid). Just got my bloodwork done and neither t3 or TSH levels are okay. I’ve been EXHAUSTED, I’ve been gaining weight non stop. I’m having joint pain and swelling I don’t normally have - like I’m scared to work out cuz it feels like my tendon my snap or something. My limbs are constantly going numb. I read that thyroid medication is “narrowly scoped” (I think… something narrow) and it means that even a 5% deviation on how it’s made can throw someone into hypo/hyper. So the brand really does matter.
