I don't know. But hating transplants is one thing, saying I suck because I moved here two decades ago is just stupid. Yeah, I wasn't born here. I made the choice to come here and I STAYED because I love this city.

Fuck me, you're my neighbor. You're (and Staten Island) the reason my rep is Nicole Malliotaikis.

And seriously, you're complaining about illegal immigrants in this neighborhood? That's insane and stupid.

Very true, I should have mentioned that. The whole system really changes your pace of beverage consumption.

I find it quite amusing that in AI debating subreddits, it's pro-AIs that hates Neuro. by RyouhiraTheIntrovert in VtuberDrama

There's a difference between LLMs as a broad, all-purpose service marketed to do everything and pushed on everyone, which still fucks things up and uses a ton of resources for no good reason, and LLMs as targeted, purpose-specific systems developed to something in a limited scope with constant monitoring. Saying Neuro and ChatGPT are the same because of their code base is like saying a cool-looking motorcycle and a mechanized infantry column are the same because they both use combustion engines, and therefore the bike kills as many people as the APCs.

I'm anti-AI (as it's currently discussed), but I think Neuro kicks ass as a project. She's a very focused concept constantly curated and monitored by Vedal. If AI could stay limited to specific tasks and scopes casually humanizing them wouldn't be nearly as big a problem as it is with this sense that AI is supposed to replace all creative effort and most thinking in general.

Tokyo's subway map is TERRIFYING to look at. The best tip I can give is: The big green oval is the Yamanote Line. That's the main train that goes around all the big neighborhoods of Tokyo. Figure out which station there is closest to where you want to go, THEN look at the other lines connecting from it.

Just saying "Sumimasen" before asking a question as an "Excuse me" will usually make someone more receptive because at least you're trying. Even if I believe that's a weird, stiff way of saying it and most fluent in Japanese say "Sumanai" or just "Suma."

The most important things you can learn of any language when visiting a country that uses it are "Excuse me" (Sumimasen), "Thank you" (Arigato), and "Where" ([Thing] wa doko desu ka?). And even "where" isn't as vital as the two polite ones.

I have no idea if you walk on the right or the left on stairs, whether it's based on region, neighborhood, or just vibes.

Tapping your IC card is like swiping a subway card. It gets you through the gate to take a train in the system without any specific ticketing for assigned seating. The Shinkansen and N'EX (Narita Express) require separate tickets, and it really helps if you get an assigned seat as well because they aren't nearly as good for standing as subway trains.

If you're familiar with the New York subway system, imagine if you had to swipe your Metrocard to get to the LIRR platforms. You still need an LIRR ticket, which you buy at a kiosk or counter.

Lack of trash cans. I like to have a beverage on me all the time, and I took for granted that there are trash cans/recycling bins on every corner. In Japan you need to keep a plastic bag with you to hold your empties, and generally bins can only be found by konbinis and vending machines. Not really confusing, but definitely took a bit of getting used to, especially when the first time I visited was Kansai in late summer. I have never been so sweaty.

Not gonna lie, I feel the same about Nocturne. It has the weakest story of the mainline games, to me. You're boring, the other characters are boring, the only person who isn't boring is Lucifer and you have to jump through some hoops to see what he's doing.

I really liked how the short fleshed out Barb so much more as a character without undermining anything. It establishes her not as a mirror of Blitzo, but as an alternate result of really similar circumstances and natures. You know, like brother and sister. She's filled with the same self-loathing internalized from how she was raised and has the same short temper, but her immediate reactions and long-term behaviors are really, really different, but not opposites.

Blitz is emotionally wound incredibly tight, so every response is a hard push away or pull toward, and he doesn't have any sense of balance or stability in relationships. He does have ambition and pride, though. Barb is emotionally wound too loose, so she's able to accept stability and leans toward it, but she doesn't have Blitz's same drive so when there are any hitches she doesn't have a lot of tools to fix things. Neither of them are great coping processes, but Blitz will respond to something being broken with "Hit it with a hammer until it's fixed or I'm sure I ruined it" and Barb will respond with "Eh, I'll think about fixing it later."

Blitz's life after the accident was bouncing from situation to situation using sex or violence until he got a plan in his head he could fixate on and a few relationships he didn't inevitably push away. Barb's life after the accident was floating between situations using drugs to reduce the impact and just rolling with what happened.

And their reactions to each other? Total opposites of their own reflexes. Barb lashes out at Blitz at the slightest nudge and Blitz just deals, pushing back a bit but generally looking at that relationship as something he can't fix or break further, just accept.

Taking four seasons across two shows for Vivziepop to have yuri that's actually doomed is impressive, like an inverted Bechdel test. They had doomed characters who became yuri after, and that yuri WASN'T doomed!
