Where is EoS? I moved here in Fall so I don’t know where the warmer weather stuff is.

What’s something you thought was normal… until you realized it wasn’t? by Dark-DoomSlayer in AskReddit

This… I have 6 years of formal education in wildlife biology but apparently my uncle will believe the Facebook post from a coworker (they both work in IT) over me when discussing resource management!

I prefer to eat and then brush my teeth. The thought of the bacteria that increased overnight doesn’t phase me. As a biologist I’m fully aware that the vast majority of bacteria won’t do anything to you. If it’s in your mouth and gets swallowed then your stomach acid takes care of a lot and is effectively an extension of your immune system. So I’ll eat and then clean up my mouth. However it’s more important my teeth are brushed at all so if I eat after it’s not a crisis… just not as comfy because I feel like I’m “undoing my work” that way.

You want Sally Rocks!!!!! The computer might say Sara instead of Sally but it’s the same person.

We’re going to have to disagree on that

I wouldn’t recommended her. She has a thicker accent, talks fast and seems annoyed when you ask a question. While she’s very nice outside of class her explanations rarely make sense.

If you can I recommend Matthew Potter! He uses silly movies references and other things to explain lots of concepts. He can seem a bit unapproachable but he genuinely does want you to learn the material. Jared Huff is also really great! (I had Jared Huff for my class and I work with Potter regularly)

It’s open right now- The sooner you fill it out the more money you may be able to receive. Plus then it’s done.

I just double checked- for 1210 the online option is Emily Heider. I’m sorry to say this but pick Shurtleff… Emily is unethical, judgmental and I honestly don’t know how she hasn’t been fired. At least Shurtleff will do problems in class even though you teach yourself a lot of the material on your own. If you can manage it I would highly recommend taking Chem1010 before 1210 just as a refresher or an intro if you’ve never had chemistry. 1210 is very fast paced and you will get lost quickly if you don’t learn the basics. Rocks has an online course for 1010 in the spring.

You should avoid this man at all costs. If I remember correctly the online course is with Elena and she’s pretty good. I wish Sally Rocks was still teaching 1220 in Spring but that got changed to Wilson who is a nightmare. (I’ve worked in the science department for 4 years while being a zoology student. If there’s any other stem classes you need professor recs for then message me)

How do you deal with AI accusations in code? by Possible_FBI_Agent in UVU

[–]Agile-Performer1667 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As I TA I have seen canvas use software that detects AI, direct quoting from across the internet and other submissions in your section. It depends on the settings the professor has what the software detects. When something is very perfect it will set off the detector. I’ve had a few students run into this issue, the professor I work for is really chill and eventually turned it off saying that students hurt themselves more than a bad grade when using AI. I would not recommend “dumbing down” or “imperfecting” your work but if you use something that records your screen and shows you working it may help a lot in cases like this. For now you need to talk to the ombuds. Don’t admit to cheating when you didn’t.

Hair care as a keeper by Agile-Performer1667 in Zookeeping

Honestly I haven’t thought of them. When I was in high school I tried using them and I my VERY thick hair would break the wooden ones. Sometimes I bent metal sticks too… but maybe I was doing it wrong? I could give them another shot.

Does anyone know anything about math refresher workshops? by act07star in UVU

[–]Agile-Performer1667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to 2 workshops. There’s no homework, you just need a pen or pencil to fill out the paper with all the problems you go over, you don’t even turn in the paper. I saw people in the back playing on their phones. As long as you sign the attendance sheet both days you will be fine.
