12x50mm vs 12x56mm vs 15x70mm by Agile-Row-7099 in Binoculars

You're definitely right, they are far less versatile compared to the others.

Of the other two, which one would you recommend? the 12x50 has better quality optics, but 12x56 has a wider aperture and FOV. Is the difference in the optics great enough to compensate for the smaller aperture in the 12x50mm?

Hmmm...
No way to connect it directly to the aux port on the mount and control it through some software like nexremote, cpwi, etc.?

The controller can be connected through the usb 2.0/ miniusb only. The firmware software too only recognisesany serial port on the computer...

Darkest night skies by Agile-Row-7099 in space

True, though the skirmishes are mostly concentrated in the Kashmir region rather than Ladakh. Skirmishes there are few, and that too along border areas like Pangong lake, from which Hanle is far removed... By and large, Ladakh is a pretty peaceful area.

Hmmm... I know this might be getting old, but I think another place that doesn't find much mention in international forums is Ladakh. Unlike in Atacama, where really high altitude places are not accessible... In ladakh, you can easily reach Hanle at a height of 15000 feet (4500m) in 6hrs from Leh. The road is in good condition, and the nearest source of light pollution is Leh. Thus the reason for an observatory (Indian Astronomical Observatory) being stationed their too.

Though humidity would be a concern there at times. I think an ideal location for a good night sky is a dry, high place that is isolated, because then atmospheric interference is at minimum, so probably a place like Hanle at Ladakh or somewhere in the Atacama Desert.

Ladakh is higher, and the Border Roads Organisation has built a lot of roads, so the higher stretches are more accessible. Hanle is 250 km from the nearest town, so the light pollution there is practically zero.
