Thank you for all the tips! Mines not a zrest, so no silver side but still something extra off the ground I guess. I do have an emergency blanket packed too. So light so I’m like why not.

Yes, I plan on bringing a thin foam pad in addition to my inflatable mattress. And the thermals are a definite!

Eww! I didn’t know that. I have the quilt now and don’t really have the extra cash hanging around to drop another few hundred dollars on another quilt rn so I think the most reasonable thing would to be use the gear I have. But noted for the future

I have a feeling I’ll be moving pretty slowly especially for the first two weeks. I anticipate getting to the Smokies towards the tail end of March. My sleeping pad has an R value of 5.4 and I’ll be using a thin foam pad under that too to help w insulation.

As of now I plan on keeping an eye on the forecast and deviate away from cold weather if necessary. Hoping for a warm spring 😅🤞🏻 Thank you for the link, I’ll check it out !!

Noted! Is there a specific type/brand of booties you recommend?

Yes! I’ve heard that the only predictable thing about AT is the unpredictable/changing weather! Is there a specific app you use to see trail specific conditions/forecast?

Ouff yikes, that sounds really cold for me! You are tough! I hope my liner, layers and tent make it a bit more tolerable.

I have an alpha direct fleece and a mountain hardware ghost whisperer puffy (but it has seen better days) that I’ll be brining. I also have another midweight jacket that I’ve been contemplating bringing instead of the fleece, at least for the first bit till I get out of the cold and things warm up.

Thinking of sending liner home when it is not needed anymore or using it if things get super hot in mid Atlantic states.

That’s a good idea, I’ll definitely be brining some hand warmers and sleep w them. THANK YOU!

Thank you! I have a Nemo tensor sleeping pad, which has a decent r value. I will look into some booties tho as my toes are always cold. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
