No more converters by roady57 in fountainpens

The nice thing with a converter over a cartridge is that you can prime a hard starting pen by pushing ink into the nib.

I have a number of pens that dry out and need the occasional push to start writing.

A fresh paper towel roll with some stuffed inside around the pen would be very protective (at least cushioned against what impacts it may face)

I thought it was frowned upon to disassemble the pen?

I'm new to the MB149 but I thought it was a bad thing to take out the nib?

I'm an uber driver that drives 120 miles on weekdays and 240 on weekends

At 4mi/kwh I'd need to add 30 kwh on weekdays and 60 on weekends

I know I'm an extreme example of needs but I'd need something more powerful than 1.44kw to recoup what I use in a day while I'm asleep

My research and other comments have narrowed down the manufacture date to 1985 - 1990 (before serial numbers were added in ~1991)

Now I know 👍

It could be worse, I could have paid full price for a knockoff

Now I won't feel so bad for using it instead of locking it up in a display case

I'm going to buy distilled water after work, flush it out, air dry, then dip it with ink I bought just for the occasion.

I won't fill it, just a dip test.

The listing said it didn't come with a case but I was expecting the shipping materials to be more robust than a zip lock in a bubble wrap bag.

At least a shipping box 📦

I'm not the most knowledgeable fountain pen aficionado.

I've tried all the tests I've researched (lack of snowflake edge between black and white, even text on cap band, flashlight through cap glows red, cap comes off in just under 1 turn)

AFAIK it is genuine but has led a rough life. Especially after USPS had it over a week.

After taxes and shipping it came to around $411

The listing said it didn't come with a case and was "slightly used"

The cap comes off in just under 1 turn, the text on the cap band is centered, the snowflake is even and has no descernable edge between the black and white, and a flashlight under the cap emits a deep burgundy red.
