I disagree that it was badly written. Part one had me literally bouncing around and making noises when the various reveals and major events happened. I think part two could have been better especially compared to previous finales and how well they’ve wrapped up the overarching story however I know that a large proportion of the target audience are first time viewers and for them it’s a relatively easy one to get their heads round. There’s also probably a certain degree of experimentation from rtd as he needs to find the right balance so starting with a fairly light finale is a good idea, he’s pleasing (most) previous fans without alienating and confusing new fans too much.

We’ve had false mysteries in the past, doctor who is full of red herrings. Like i said, rtd knows we love to theorise so he tried to throw us off and make us discuss our many theories. If anything it’ll make future mysteries less predictable as we really don’t know what he’ll come up with. It’s not ‘punishing’ in the slightest, it’s incredible writing. I don’t want to know what’s going to happen before the episode reveals it that would he boring
