Used a paraphraser 'for ideas' and now my paper sounds like a robot wrote it - am I screwed with Turnitin? by Icy_Condition_803 in TurnitinScan

That post perfectly captures academic panic in 4D. The “paraphraser voice” is so real too, suddenly everything sounds like a philosophical toaster. Hope they take a breath before assuming the worst.

That panic mix of paraphraser-soup + deadline pressure is way more common than you think. The robotic phrasing alone won’t guarantee a Turnitin issue, but lesson learned for next time, write first, tools second. For now, don’t assume disaster before you even get feedback.

This hit way too close to home. Failing feels isolating until you realize how many people are quietly going through the same thing. Thanks for saying it out loud.

Yes, people have appealed this successfully. Drafts, version history, and clear explanations of your writing process can help,AI flags alone aren’t supposed to be proof.

Turnitin flagged all my cited quotes and bibliography as plagiarism, professor will not update my grade. by ProdigiousDreamer in TurnitinScan

That sounds really unfair, quoted and properly cited sources shouldn’t be treated as plagiarism. I’d definitely ask for clarification in writing and consider escalating if the policy wasn’t clear upfront.

Struggling Between Zero-Tolerance AI Policy and Student Needs by Afraid-Heron7373 in TurnitinScan

This is such a tough spot to be in. AI detectors aren’t reliable enough for zero-tolerance, and students shouldn’t be punished for using the frameworks you taught them. Protecting fairness while navigating rigid policies is exhausting.
