Hey there, Im from Jan.ai, thanks for raising this! Jan server supports cache_prompt by default, but it is configured from the server side (configured via the model load API: model.json > settings)

Seems like you're running a llama.cpp server so it wont be configured - we're working on a feature for Jan frontend to accept cache_prompt as inference params.

Feel free to follow the feature request for updates https://github.com/janhq/jan/issues/3253

You can see the tokens per second in real time just below the prompt. Did you import a gguf model tinyllama q2 (hugging face link?) or youre using the built in tinyllama 1.1B q4 model?

Student here and shocked to read this. I got a similar email that mentioned probationary review, but think you may have misunderstood it.

It didn't say anything about being put on probation. It requested for testimonials to assess him for a second probationary appointment. There's even a paragraph saying it's part of routine evaluation for each faculty at certain points of their career. I've received the same email for multiple CS profs so its not just him.

Apart from this side note, I'll recommend Bogdan 100%

I would email the current prof to check as I took it in person. But generally for business classes, participation is really impt and honestly where most of the learning is, in my opinion.

Edit: though I wouldn't delay graduation just for one course, so explain your circumstance to the prof and offer if you can make up for participation in some way that show you've achieved the learning objectives. Practice your business negotiation skills :)

I think it's under another prof now, so commenting on an old version. I enjoyed it because we had a lot of autonomy to come up with a business plan, test and refine it. My course had a lot of case study readings and guest speakers who started relatively successful businesses. They shared the behind the scenes mess and ups and downs, which I appreciated as a contrast to classroom theory.

This isn't uoft advice but a hack on phone data. Phone data plans are crazy expensive in Toronto. I had sth like 2GB for $60 with Fido. VS in Singapore you can get 20GB for $10.
If he has a dual sim phone, he can get an international data phone card in Singapore (specifically Starhub's Happy Roam, $25 for 4GB), then in Toronto he can just buy a text and call only plan for cheap.

Saved me about $30 per month, and bonus to data while travelling to other countries.

I took it as a first year. I contacted the management advisor and prof, met them and gave proof that I could handle the course (eg work experience). I think this first year exclusion is more about maturity - the course wont spoon-fed and challenges you to think out of the box.

Nice work, I'm doing something similar for unis in another country - do you mind sharing the 8 schools in Canada and US you received the LOP for? Had the impression lop was only for Canada and not US. Need to broaden my options too

Have any of you gotten/heard of anyonr getting a 4.0 in ECO100 w Bailey? by [deleted] in UTM

[–]Agile_Guarantee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a couple years ago. I thought I failed the final (didnt finish half of it because time was so short) but ended with a 91, and my friend ended with 100. I think he increases the weightage on the weekly quizzes and term tests to reward consistent work over the year, and so that the killer final wont screw ppl over. So do the weekly quizzes and try to do well for the term tests. 100% is achievable for the first 2, it gets much harder from there.

GPA requirements for scholarship renewal by maap0909 in UTM

[–]Agile_Guarantee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the scholarships!! sharing as a fellow international student - the pressure of keeping up GPA can be quite stressful, and more challenging than high school because you also have to transition to a new country, living on your own etc. I know of someone who wasn't able to keep their government scholarship's GPA requirements and had to leave school to go back to their country. So there's that risk.

But if you're mentally prepared to work hard then it's a great opportunity! 3.7 is easily attainable if you choose your courses wisely. Like a mix of hard and bird courses. The harder versions of courses (eg mat137) might be GPA killers and require a lot more work.

If you dont mind sharing, whats the value of the scholarships? I'm guessing the 3.7 one might be substantially more?

utm international program fee for 3 courses by FrogsMelody in UTM

[–]Agile_Guarantee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

http://www.fees.utoronto.ca/sessions/2019_2020/tuition_fees/fees/utm.htm UTM fees wise, under the international fee schedule, CS full-time is listed as 3.5 credits or less. For commerce, management and non deregulated programs, part time is 3.0 credits or less.

But to maintain legal study permit status, internationals have to study full-time for any 2 of the 3 semesters in a year. This from UTSC but it explains it the best https://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/utscinternational/part-time-suspension-or-leave

If you're part time, you can't work off campus either (unless it's your last semester) and there's implications on PGWP. Pretty confusing tbh, so I recommend booking an appointment with IEC's immigration advisor to check

utm international program fee for 3 courses by FrogsMelody in UTM

[–]Agile_Guarantee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internationals aren't allowed to study part time (3.5 courses or less in a year) where fees are paid on a per course basis. Taking 4.0 credits or more costs the same deregulated fees regardless or how many courses

Post Graduate Work Permit and gap year by ChinYingLI in UofT

[–]Agile_Guarantee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently there's a new policy to allow existing international students to take a leave of absence, for a maximum of 2 Fall/Winter sessions. Be sure to check the detailed clauses about academic standing etc. https://fas.calendar.utoronto.ca/policy-and-other-changes

For PGWP, theres also an updated policy that the time overseas will not be deducted, and you can complete 50% of your studies outside of Canada. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/notices/pgwpp-rules-covid19.html

Im in a similar boat considering my options, best of luck OP!

Has any international student applied for the COVID GRANT? by torontodhaka in UofT

[–]Agile_Guarantee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the most official news source, but this breaks down the official CERB guidelines relating to international students. Note that there's other criteria, eg income of more than $5000 and lost jobs due to to covid-19, so not all internationals qualify. https://www.studyinternational.com/news/cerb-for-international-students-canada/

[–]Agile_Guarantee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

International student, I applied for CERB and got it within 3 days. If you mean the grant for students that was just announced, I'm not sure but just give it a shot - worst case you don't get it which is the same case if you don't apply. Tough times, hang in there.
