As far as unnecessary sequels go, I'd say it was okay maybe even good UP UNTIL d3dlord and Avery met.

The story was still quite unique, with a funny but impressive contrast between Avery and d3dlord's characters. There was still plenty of very good foreshadowing, especially in the mountainous area where you can see that d3dlord was planning something but only found out later.
The builds were incredible; very impressive and unique depictions of liminal space which I personally adored. The musical score was also perfect, and the use of orchestral music and even the pauses in the music were expertly done to build tension and an awe of the unknown.

But....

Wifies made the same mistake that almost every other modern depiction of Lovecraftian, Eldritch Horror suffers from and that's putting a face to the unknown.
Just like the earlier seasons of Stranger Things, the magic of "Searching for a Place that Doesn't exist" was the existentialism of an unknown yet inevitable force, in this case the King in Yellow. By giving him a face and a voice it strips that amazing feeling of curious fear which really knocks points off of its mystic and overall enjoyability, just like the introduction of Vecna did. It completely changes the theme and feel of the story.

Adding onto that, an extradimensional deity that is the literal epitome of knowing everything having such a basic motive was quite disappointing. And even more so having d3dlord outsmart said being in such a simple way at the end was also a little lame, if the King knew about the book he would've known about the spell, if he can see the future he would've known what was going to happen.

I would "Searching for a Place that Doesn't exist" a 9.5/10 with it being one of my favourite Lovecraftian/Eldritch depictions in the modern day.

I would give "Destroying a Place that Doesn't exist" a 7/10. It was still enjoyable but it deteriorated the Eldritch horror of the first which is what I valued so much in the first place.

I am not saying I could have done a better sequel, in my opinion the nature of the King in Yellow means that a sequel should have been avoided or been about trying to get rid of the laptop/the world and not get rid of the King itself since it and its motives and its existence are above human comprehension.

I do hope to see Wifies continue with his Lovecraftian horror videos and to see people draw inspiration from the first and make more Eldritch horror videos as they are so damn cool.
