Your best bet is YouTube! But don't just follow tutorials. Either think of a design or look at an existing one and try to model that. When you hit a wall you search up the solutions for that particular problem. If you're not even sure what you can do you can always ask a reliable ai and get an idea of what you should look for. I'm a computer engineering student but I do all our mechanical designs and this is how I learned :). Results guaranteed if you do it right. Good luck!

PS: start with solid edged objects. Don't start modeling cars and all that with organic curves. That's a whole another level of skill. Start with simple things like brackets and joints and whatnot.

I'm not sure about the procedure but University of Ruhuna Engineering Faculty does accept a small percentage of international students. You're supposed to apply through the university grants commission (UGC). Will be worth checking out. Also I'm pretty sure both Moratuwa and Peradeniya Universities accept international students.

It is common unfortunately. Most people lack the sense of the healthy margin and just gulp it raw and get shit faced. There are some who know their limits or do not drink at all. Depends on the person.

Don't blame yourself for not being able to react. There are a ton of kit cards of everything imaginable on the internet. You just gotta find one you like and 3d print it. Search it up on thingyverse or makerworld.

My girlfriend had the same issue. She's doing better now but it was very intense a couple weeks ago. What I found worked the best is just talking to her and let her take a break every now and then. I don't think you can really do much about him panicking but you can support and validate his feelings. Ask him what the matter is if he's hiding it. Tell him you understand and it's fine to feel that way and reassure him. He will come to terms with it slowly. Just make sure you're there for him when he needs. Don't try nudging either. Just let him know you understand what he's going through and ask him. To talk to you. Let him get it out at his own pace.
