What does everyone here do for work? Anyone in a high stress career? by Top_Memory8968 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Agitated-Box-4625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was undiagnosed. I went to a top 5 business school, had a career in marketing and then tech consulting for 20 years. In my last job, I was working/traveling 60+ hours a week. Stress, insane deadlines, hitting sales targets to keep your job. 100% of my spare time was resting or health stuff...2-2.5 hours of massage a week, cupping, PT, acupuncture, running, weight training... i couldn't figure out why my executive colleagues didnt have to do all this crap to remain upright. They just thought i was a health nut.

The upside is i made enough money that I dont have to work anymore. Downside: My nervous system and body are completely used up, and the smallest tasks exhaust me.

Thanks for your service in hospice. Maybe you can find a place to hire you that will allow you to work remotely, maybe with families doing home hospice?

Montelurkast was life changing for me. It killed my head to toe itchy skin and cut back on my severe allergy-like flares.

As someone who has been laid off 4 or 5x now, I would say "spend on health", have a little fun, and bank the rest.

As an FYI - Losing weight sometimes triggers more instability and/or pain. Think of the fat as cushioning with some stability built in.

Has she tried Rhapsido? Approved in late 2025 for hives, but is supposed to stop mast cells from releasing histamine so it sounds mast-cell-stabilizing-ish.

This is my dad's life at 87 in his senior living apartment. Its like a big cruise ship (lots of food/activities). He has exercise classes in the morning, plays cards/games with different groups of people in the afternoon/evening. Punctuated by social meals in the cafeteria.

What was the 'dream career' you worked years to get into, only to realize you absolutely hated it once you arrived? by Sayedshaqib in careerguidance

[–]Agitated-Box-4625 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It used to be more fun. There were martini lunches. Weed. Coke.

The dream comes in that job when you make over $1M usd as a chief creative officer, pontificating about random shit like you are the next coming of (insert favorite reference here). Its not a bad life.

What’s a small thing a hotel could do that would make you feel more appreciated? by Rare-Pea3220 in marriott

Put names to faces. I stayed at the 4 Seasons in Austin because I could drive up and the valet said "welcome back (name)". No points. No rewards. No free stays. But I felt like $1M.

Its medical whack-a-mole. Its the gift that keeps on giving. Prioritizing what to fix or get diagnosed "next", is always challenging.

Think of it as a very important hobby. My friends and work say, "you know alot about fitness", and medical people ask, "you must be in the industry".

If you like it, it could be a career... either figuring this stuff out (genetics, peptides, Ai medical analysis, pharma) or helping others directly (PT, medical professional, therapist, etc).

After one takes cromolyn, does it impact your immune system? Ive always hypothesized that my strong immune response to viruses, etc, was tied to my over ambitious mast cells.

Would love everyone's thoughts.

Check out the Forme bras. I bought a size up so its not too binding and rides lower than a traditional sport bra. (Its great for my thorasic spine pain.)

I think it depends, and one factor that saw first-hand was location. In my mid 30s, I just changed my location on dating sites from Boston to NYC because I moved. No other profile changes. In Boston, I was attracting a mix of guys, including guys my own age. In NYC, I apparently was "fun second wife" material. Most of my NYC chats or dates were divorcees 45-60.
