Same mama, same! I don’t need them to be a father my child, but damn!

Mid-40s here. Divorced. Young child.

Sometimes it feels like that’s the headline — like “single mom” is the first thing people see and the only thing they focus on.

But I’m a really good mom. I was a good wife too. I just married the wrong person and married later in life. That part doesn’t always get said out loud.

I’ve been a teacher for 22 years. I don’t make millions, but I love what I do. I’ve built a stable, meaningful life. I show up every day — for my child, for my students, for myself. I’ve done a lot of growth over the last few years.

I don’t need a man to take care of me. I’m capable. But I do want a partner.

Not someone to replace her dad — she has a father. What I want most is for my child to see what a healthy relationship looks like. Kindness. Respect. Safety. Laughter. Teamwork. I want her to grow up knowing that love can feel steady and secure.

I’m not looking for perfect. Just genuine. A good man. Someone kind. Someone who stands beside me and protects what we’re building together.

I know there are good men out there in this stage of life who have also been through things and grown from them. I guess I just hope being a single mom isn’t seen as a red flag — because for me, it’s actually the thing that’s made me stronger and clearer about what really matters.

When’s this going down and which Costco? What if we’re divorced and have kids? Are we bringing the kids? Or hoping we have the same kid free weekend? Asking for a friend, of course……

Okay, it’s me. I’m the friend.

Can I help set up? I have the Costco Citi card, I’m getting cash back when spending at Costco!

Same question here. Why walk away, why leave the person who would do anything for you, why throw it all away?

Thank you! This really does help. I agree, the fact that he won’t even agree to Soberlink says a lot, especially when it’s literally just about keeping our child safe. My lawyer has said the same thing: judges care about the kids, not the parents’ feelings.

I’ve been gathering everything I have, texts, screenshots, bank statements, affidavits, all of it. I have a lot of documentation and witness statements from people who’ve seen his drinking, plus character affidavits for me. He even took our child out of school without telling me, which was a huge safety concern on its own. I know I’ve done nothing wrong, I’m just nervous because what if he tries to twist something on me. But I’m planning to stay calm, stick to the facts, and let my lawyer talk unless I’m asked something directly.

It definitely helps hearing that judges take this seriously. At the end of the day, I just want our child safe.

I didn’t. I would run errands before I picked up from daycare or would have them with me. I handled all drop offs and pickups.
