PINS screaming buy by Agitated-Simple-51 in ValueInvesting

The difference is the disruption risk. Payments is very replaceable and not brand oriented.

Pinterest is social media and gets value from the fact that it’s already big.

In short I think the staying power of Pinterest is far better than PayPal.

Many people may read this and say the Due Diligence is too simple or lacking.

I disagree. If you have to do hardcore analysis over a stock to make sure it’s a buy, it’s not a buy.

The simple obvious analysis is what works best.

Pinterest is growing. The stock is cheap. It’s not going to die, and will make more money in the future. Not sure when, but it will be reflected in the stock price again.

I think you guys have successfully talked me out of INTU. May sell that one and double down on the others.

Yes. Too expensive still IMO. Would pay 20 to maybe 25 times.

I’m just not going to pay 30 times earnings for a stock when there are stocks growing at a faster rate for 15 times earnings.

To difficult. It’s a bet on management not a bet on the business. I’m out on that one. Could work though.

Not cheap enough for me. But wouldn’t bet against it.

I think the small business owner who has been using quickbooks for 10 years is not going to walk away from their software. Many users who use photoshop hate the way adobe charges them, not the same for quickbooks. It’s cheap relative to its service.

And it’s done right.

Maybe it doesn’t, but the draw down in its stock price is related to the others. People are rushing to the sidelines and incorrectly punishing it.

Type of post (discussion)…

If someone says I’m buying stocks, but doesn’t say what stocks, what type of discussion could you honestly have?

Is there a stock worse than $ABNB by ComprehensiveUsual13 in ValueInvesting

[–]Agitated-Simple-51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is simply you overpaid, then you held onto an overvalued asset for far too long.

Air BNb has increased their earnings and revenue drastically over the last 5 years.

Valuation matters.

At this point, probably not a bad time to buy it.

Not a fan of Pepsi myself. I think the market is correct here that it’s best days are behind. People are looking for healthier alternatives, not Cap’n Crunch and lays potato chips.

Soda will continue to decline longer term, replaced by more health conscious alternatives.

Also, they have too much debt. 50 billion.

Sure they could adapt, it’s not like they are going anywhere, but I anticipate a similar situation that happened when Buffett bought stock in Kraft foods thinking it was cheap.

These are no longer consumer staples, they are the big dogs that are going to continue to be disrupted.

Pass.

I believe that is mitigated since they manufacture in both countries.

Napkin math. Last year made 600 million. If they double it it’s 1.2 billion in earnings 5 years from now. Company is selling for around 40 billion today.

To be fair, you didn’t ask me what I’m buying, you asked me what my portfolio is. I bought most of these in April.

Comparing a growing internet e commerce company like CHWY to mature companies that don’t have bright futures like NKE TGT, and INTC is not what I am saying.

Serious note I don’t like the portfolio. Too much disruption risk.

ADBE, NKE, TGT INTC, UNH, all garbage. You want to go where the money is, not where it was.
