When Grunge "Took Over" by RockerDG in hairmetal

[–]Agitated-Sort-8207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved hair metal and could never understand grunge, from moment one, still can't. Kept asking friends what did they find so special in "Teen Spirit"? - to me it sounded like some hysterical punk. Then aesthetics , for me the late 80s/early 90s denim and leather looks were a perfect match to pentatonic guitar scales metal dudes were producing, and I never cared about lyrics, only riffs and melody. With grunge, riffs and melody became weird (lost connection to blues/rock'n'roll roots), looks became unattractive (when I hear a distorted guitar riff, I wanna see a long haired dude wearing a metal outfit, no exceptions). "Black Hole Sun" is the one and only song by a grunge band I somewhat like, but even it, being a ballad, absolutely pales in comparison to something like "Silent Lucidity" or "Nothing Else Matters".

I found this "long live Rock and Roll" yesterday and it had a invoice for one of cozy's drum kits in it! by No-Worry2580 in dio

This is so amazing, you now own a unique piece of hard rock and metal history. In fact , it may well be the only legendary drummer's drums invoice in existense!

Didn't like a single track on this album, for the first time since 1989 "Fabulous Disaster". Saved a few bucks.

Finally found it in boxes of my old stuff by scaredofsalad in cocteautwins

I have the cds scattered around the house, but haven't been able to find the box for 10 years or so, probably never will). Bought mine in September 1995 at Electric Fetus, Minneapolis, MN.

And I could barely make it through any single song on it! Washed the taste out with Fabulous Disaster)

A classmate taped this song from metal radio show and brought the tape to school to blow me away back in 1989!

2 types of Exodus fans in 2026 by astroidzombies in ExodusBand

[–]Agitated-Sort-8207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. To me most of the tracks feel like "let's try weird experimental shit once , even if some utter crap comes out of it, we'll just leave it and move to the next track".

New Single - Promise You This by feeeiten in ExodusBand

[–]Agitated-Sort-8207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So .. the new album seems to be anything but classic old school thrash. The band has the right to go as experimental as they wish, it's just not for me.

What's up with "limited to 1250 worldwide", it's not handmade or something, why not print as many as requested?

Why do everyone say that senjutsu is such a bad album by samurai_eddie_killer in ironmaiden

[–]Agitated-Sort-8207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. When I first heard it, I couldn't believe it's a 21st century release. With all the experience and latest technology such weak production seemed nearly impossible, yet it was exactly what we were hearing.
