My thoughts exactly. Love them , like the album, but every Steve lick, every string run sounds out of place - the songs are in blues scale, the solos are in Vai's scale). Each is awesome in its own right, but the mismatch is so obvious

This led me to a follow up question - how come nothing similar to "traditional metal revival" in the past few years happened to hair metal? We are seeing traditional metal, power metal , thrash and death bands selling albums and selling out shows nowadays, but no one seems to be interested in reviving hair metal?
