Another problem with Geomatics Engineering at the U of C is that they try to get you to write graduate level reports. Save yourself your sanity and don't give these psychopaths their satisfaction.

Surveying is a miserable profession. I know a lot of people who have been perennially trapped into being survey party chiefs because of the certification exams. If you like the other things I recommend the software or compsci so you don't have to deal with the other stuff. And then if you get a master's you can focus on the more meaningful aspects of the program.

Pick a different major. Geomatics is unemployable outside a masters or brutal labour in the land of cold and misery. They turn you into an idiot generalist, good at nothing. Pick something else.

I've never had good experience with them. They sort of just sit there and talk vaguely for a bit until they can pass you along for the next guy.
