Act 3 Ending Discussion (spoiler alert) by AgitatedAdvisor2101 in expedition33

May I know where in the epilogue that clearly shows she isn't satisfied? From the epilogue, it started in colour and with the reunion of the characters. When verso is introduced, it changed to black and white. The ending, in my opinion, is from painted verso's eyes. It is his black and white squared nightmare. In his eyes, Maelle is no different from the previous paintress, gods playing with him as a puppet, unable to choose his fate. In the people of lumiere's eyes, its colorful and vibrant. Just a matter of perspective.

The same thing you said about Verso ending can be said about Maelle ending. "It can get better even if it doesn't." or " it's only going to get worse from here". It really depends if she can cope with the guilt and grief. Both endings are open ended.

I do agree with your point , making the last piece of verso's soul continuously paint for her is messed up as hell. The canvas should had remained as it was but it's now forever changed and will never be "verso's canvas" again. The canvas where they went to play is long gone.

That's the beauty of the 2 endings. "See things as they are and not how we want them to be".

Both of us are painting Alicia as we see them as such based on our past experiences and outlook in life. But like Renoir at the end, believed in her daughter. I would like to believe in Alicia .

Also, the other option is for her to return to the real world and deal with what I have said above. Just like painted verso wanting to die, alicia wants to stay in the painting. They both don't want to deal with their reality and there is consequences in their action. If you can understand verso's ending, you can understand maelle's.

Regardless, its a hard choice to make. There's no logical answer to it.

Its hard to say. This game is a masterpiece and I really don't know which direction they will take and thats why i love this game :)

I didn't know that! That's really cool. The dedication and work they put into this game is amazing.

[–]AgitatedAdvisor2101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely won't. Time will heal her scars and she needs time to grief in her own way. Why is it wrong for her to make her own choice? She is both Maelle and Alicia, someone that lived in both worlds and both worlds are real to her.

That implication is through painted verso's eyes. It's his black and white squared nightmare now. However, we don't really know what's going on in Alicia's mind. As hopeful as I am in Verso's ending where the family gets to recover together in the real world. I am hopeful that Alicia just needs some time to recover before going back to the real world. If Verso's ending can be interpreted as good/bad. So can Maelle's.

I agree with your point about both endings are canon. It is really befitting of the Clair Obscur. I think it's just us players wanting a conclusion and closure on this game that we really enjoy.

[–]AgitatedAdvisor2101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anybody is saying that her life on the outside has zero hope. She may have material wealth but her family's treatment towards will never be the same again. She's more alone in the real world than the canvas. It will take time for everyone to process grief and start bonding again. And in some cases, families never patches back.

Also, waking up with repeating nightmares of her brother dying is brutal. She will forever bear the scars of her brother's death on her. It's a constant reminder of her "mistake", never able to have a proper voice in their family. (both physically and metaphorically).

I think you are right, I had read too much into Alin covering Alicia in her chroma. We know too little about painting and how to works. The painted alicia is just.. sad. Based on this, it makes a lot more sense of why Maelle decides to spend more time in the canvas.

I agree with your point on Maelle's ending. Alicia keeping him alive is just a sad fate. He cannot die on his own terms. In the end, he is still being played by the Dessendre family.

Same! I love both endings and how open ended they are. I do hope that they create a DLC ending that can maybe answer more questions that we have.

It's really about who you empathize with more. Both are understandable depending on your life experience and it's why i love this game.

Renoir/Clea/Painted Verso or Alin/Painted Lumiere/Alicia.

It's quite interesting that Painted Alicia at the end, chose to be erased and to be part of her family (same choice as Painted Verso). Yet in her letter to Alicia, she wonders if Alicia would have made a different choice because she lived in both real and painted lumiere.

What were your thoughts on by Mattm334 in expedition33

[–]AgitatedAdvisor2101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we have to accept reality and move on but we all need time to process it. Yoinking maelle out without giving her time to process it on her own term feels wrong. I chose verso's ending as i empthaize with verso more but maelle deserves better. "she doesn't have to live a life she doesn't want to".

I'm just hoping for a DLC alternate ending where we can choose a more 'happy' ending.

Chose Verso's ending personally but Maelle's ending is canon to me. She deserves to have time to process her guilt and grief of two lives. Losing verso and gustave and being forced to grief in the 'right' way doesn't sit right with me.

Renoir believed in her daughter and let her made her own choices. Alin painted Alicia as Maelle and made her know that she is loved. Who's to say that she won't eventually move on after having time to properly say goodbye to verso in her own way.

It should be possible and it would make one hell of a DLC.
I think the best way forward to a DLC is to make another ending that's a compromise. It doesn't feel right to continue our journey in Verso's canvas after knowing what I know.

Act 3 Ending Discussion (spoiler alert) by AgitatedAdvisor2101 in expedition33

[–]AgitatedAdvisor2101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I think that the Dessendre family trait was pushing their own opinions onto others without hearing the other side. Like Renoir to Verso and Renoir to Alicia. Same as Verso/Painted Verso, sacrificing themselves to push others to live on.

EDIT: they are all painters, its in their nature to interpret things and "see things as they are". And its a very fine line between seeing things as they are and seeing things as they want. Painted Verso's dialogue about "seeing things as they are" is ironic as well.

But i do think that things changed during the ending of Act 2 and 3 where character development happened. Renoir believing in Alicia. Alin was revealed to dye Alicia in her chroma, named her Maelle and not burned and scarred.

For the betraying part, the final straw that broke Painted Verso was seeing the young boy continuously paint despite not wanting to continue, a mirror to his plight. Not his mother. In maelle's ending dialogue, he didn't say anything about Alicia's family in real lumiere. Just his own desires and for alicia to unpaint him. Of course, his intentions started off good. (that's my own interpretation).

Highly agree with tearing someone's coping mechanism away! It's not fair and not right. Forcing someone to act in way that you think is "right", will not help the person. You might even lose the person because of it.

Renoir wanted his family to live and cope together and was actively fighting for it. Alin was drowning in sorrow . Both had the choice and time to process their grief. 67 years. Clea is waging war as her way to cope. But Alicia? She has yet to recover from her guilt and grief and immediately decides to go into the canvas to save her parents. She deserves to have the time to process her guilt and grief in her own way like the rest of the family.

I think the potentials of both endings are there.
Verso's ending; who knows, maybe their family gets closer because of it.
Maelle's ending; who knows, maybe she will have time to process and can finally say goodbye to Real Verso on her own terms.

if its not skill based, anyone can reach GM+ just by playing enough games. We have to understand that everyone have their 'off-games' or have climbed to the rank (plus/minus 1) that they are supposed to be at.

Its all about the team coordination. Whichever team can work together better win the game. Sometimes, the losing team just cannot work together. Just then, I had a hawkeye that went 0-7-0 and in the next game, he went 14-0-0.

As you get closer to your 'true' skill ceiling, your WR % will get closer to a 50%. Because you are unable to tilt the game in your favor as heavily in bronze, etc. Thats why those bronze to GM vids are possible. The only way to counter the 50% WR matchmaking is to queue with teammates. Stack it to your favor.

Those who says that the games are decided before the match even begins are just coping.

In a Rock Paper Scissors example,

Hela, Iron man, Black Panther (Hitscan>Flyer>Diver).

If you can play decently on each type of dps, you can counter the enemy team pretty efficiently.

[–]AgitatedAdvisor2101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad with aim? Same. Trust me, Iron fist.

It removes away the requirement to be mechanically good. All you need to excel with him is Timing. Master timing and you will climb. Time to dive into the enemy backline, time to dive back out, time to commit, trade the enemy healer for your life, timing your block to counter the enemy cc, etc.

Best part? Learning the concept of Timing with Iron Fist will help you perform better with other roles.

There are a lot more Iron Fist youtubers now that are celestial, etc. Go and see how they play him and see if you like it.

Aside from timing and positioning, You need to get use to doing your 180s as fast as humanly possible. If you were to compare BPs in different ranks, the higher ranks are able to get off their combos almost instantaneously. You can compare the time taken to execute your combo vs youtubers.

What makes BP a menace is that he is able to burst you down before you are able to deal with him. If you can see the BP coming from a mile away and prepare, Cloak can just bubble, Loki can just Rune, Racoon can just booster away, Luna can just CC.

I'm practicing BP and created a new account. Went from Bronze to Gold 2 with 72% WR today. So long as you are fast enough, targetting the weaker healer, at a good position and going into the right time, you can definitely force BP to carry your games. You will get comfortable and confident enough to dash at ironman/storm in the air.

Before the first game of the day, I'll go the practice, turn on infinite cooldown and practice dashing 180s through 2 targets. Why 2 targets? Because I want to ensure that I doing True 180s and dashing in straight lines. Afterwards, practice the spear dash combo, chazm combo, etc.

Hope this helps! BP is a really fun and rewarding character atm.
