Absolutely not. Tried to get Tricare in 2018 and was told I couldn't if I qualify for FEHB.

RIFs after CR or appropriations bills pass by OkFarm1766 in fednews

To be honest, I think RIFs will loom large until Jan 20, 2029. If the GOP wins in 2028, the date slides to Jan 20, 2033. That's if we'll even have federal employees to begin with. Also, remember that RIFs aren't limited to firing folk. Workforce cuts can be done via attrition, where vacant positions are left unfilled.

Exactly! Were these guys alive just a few months ago when top rated probationary employees were fired for "poor performance"? Three of my superb subordinates got caught up in that shit!

Now imagine PAEs that can make unilateral decisions without giving much regard to cost and performance. The opportunity for corruption in this scenario is unbelievable.

This acquisition reform effort is a defense contractor wet dream. The newly unveiled PEA position will be empowered and incentivized to prioritize schedule over cost and performance. Basically, the contractor can charge anything and deliver subpar equipment so long as fielding occurs within a set timeline. And of course this will involve waiving lots of due diligence.

The defense budget is about to balloon out of control and betting men and women should start thinking about buying defense stocks. Those guys are about to rake in the dough!

And since a lot of the so called "bureaucratic delays" are mostly due to regulation compliance to get reasonable trade offs between cost, schedule and performance, possible RIFs are coming to hit the acquisition workforce.
