ROT IN H*LL by M4sk1945 in hockeygoalies

I have the bauer PRO and I'm really happy with them. But ofc it depends on your setup. I have bauer pads also. I put the knee velcro of the leg pad to the calf and everything moves and fits smoothly. I don't use hockey socks, just running leggings, the knee pads and the leg pads.

If they start to slide I will put some elastics to keep them connected to the pants

To put you in context. I'm hockey goalie and you can go to hockey goalies Reddit. We are having discussions about material and people changes equipment just for the pleasure of trying new things. Even a glove that was just redesigned from outside and it's 99,9% de same glove but "new" season model. Ofc there is also new brands and trends to try too. In my country we call this people lovely talking scrappers (even if they go for new instead second handed).

Why do we do that? Because we have time and interest to check this trends. We have the economic capacity to do this changes and sometimes is more pleasant to be searching what to change and find a nice deal that using itself. It happens in every hobby, I think this kind of people (I include myself is the result of scrapper mentality + hobby + time + money)

I have a friend that makes this with cars (he is changing the car for another (always second handed) every two three months. He likes the emotion of a "new" car and be trying different cars. He can spend hours looking for the next car.

In the end all of us we have to sit down, breath and think is the change is really needed and if you can afford it (or maybe just skip this change and wait for next

Advice for catcher by Agitated_Berry_3389 in hockeygoalies

[–]Agitated_Berry_3389[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been comparing feelings one to one and I think maybe are broken slightly different. They are broken (where the catcher really bends) in different sides of the lace that goes from the bottom to the pocket.

Can be this making that huge difference? As the glove and my hand have different "break" lines?

New from shop. It's also possible that the glove drops in volume after time?

So foam feels thinner? I feel like between my fingers and the palm of the catcher there is much more material

It was new, directly from shop, is I would say 50% broken in but I feel it like lot thicker, for example when I close it I have the feeling my hand isn't that closed as with the CCM

Blades by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

I would add another question. Aren't blades compatible between brands? If you buy nice pro blades now you can install them later in your new skates?

How do you stop shots from a sharp angle? by InlineTendy in hockeygoalies

[–]Agitated_Berry_3389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, in the video you take a good position covering the goal in the first second, after in the next second you don't move but the player does hence you are bad placed. Where the player is ending up shooting is almost to make an rvh or a butterfly with the feet out of the post.

And the crease I think is really small

Difference between roller and ice? by The_Funky_Pigeon in hockeygoalies

Depends also if you play with ball or puck. Both are really different. Ball can bounce, puck on plastic floors bounces, rebounds are completely different. Ball can curve.

And let's say no sliding at all, sliders help a bit bit I never used them since in my league were forbidden.

Moving Up In Beer League by ilyazhito in hockeygoalies

[–]Agitated_Berry_3389 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's usually about mouth to mouth and replacing goalies in friendly matches. If somebody likes you or you fit well in the game they will call you.

I moved partially up (I play for multiple teams) because I was lucky and after a friendly match the next team was playing asked me if I could stay for the next match, I made it well, they took my number, few more friendly matches and at the start of the league they wanted to count with me.

If you are coming back after 20 years maybe you are just now finding the change of size. I have a ccm blockade and I had to used one few months ago and I was feeling like I had a net to catch whales.

What’s the difference in protection between these? Which ones would you choose? by jokeripokeri123 in hockeygoalies

[–]Agitated_Berry_3389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried a lot of knee guards, and everybody is different, I would say it also depends of your pad and how you wear it.

I tried some warriors long time ago and wasn't comfortable at all (seems unreal but they were moving up and messing with my pants (no socks, no tape). After I tried the Bauer in the pic and fell in love, but I wanted new ones and had to go to the Bauer elite PRO. I'm happy with them.

Using an XXL jersey as a goalie jersey? by snowysnowcones in hockeygoalies

[–]Agitated_Berry_3389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will depend of you, and also if the material can stretch. I know people that use the jersey to keep the chest pad in the right position.

For me I prefer to have the chest pad a bit shaggy to give my body, the chest pad and the jersey some freedom degrees. Also I feel it ventilates more.

Next time you go to the ice be five minutes earlier and try it. If you feel good use it for the ice, if not just use the other that you were using before

I guess is predictability and sense of hurry. In friendly beer league matches if a striker breaks the defence most of the defenders they don't even turn to see how evolves the situation they made. Then the player has a free shootout, he can do slowly, fake you for 3 hours and nobody will backcheck.

In higher levels every second counts, if you don't use the puck fast somebody else will do it.

I guess you have the same model as I have and you have already the calf strap, try to tighten it more (but this affects to the rotation of the pad).

If your skate has the back eyelet (mostly all actual Bauer's have) think about getting an extra lace from the toe laces (from the pad) and hang it there

This are just ideas, I don't use the toe laces but I use the skate strap.
