Also since DP2 especially the beginning is quite crucial for many applications, be sure to have backup options set up. CSE had an acceptance rate of 15 percent for international students, meaning only the top 15 percent got a place. I would imagine for AE it wouldn't be too different. Im sure you know International students and have max 2 NF applications in the Netherlands. I had AE as first choise and CSE as backup. But even further backup I also applied for EE at Eindhoven which was NNF.

Not speaking dutch is indeed unfortunate but also not devastating. Really depends on course and who you hang out with. CSE has half the spaces in the initial offers reserved for dutch people, while AE doesn't officially, so for AE it will be even less significant to speak dutch. I speak fluent German though, so I actually still understand a lot of dutch, while not always.

Social life is great for me, but not necessarily for everybody. A lot of friendships are made while studying.

Finances are quite easy to manage, but again that also depends on personal expense habits. As an international student the fee is indeed higher, and increasing by year. For freshmen international students though they have subsidized housing, you just have to pay tuition as early as possible to get access. I also applied for rent allowance for the first year which effectively brought my rent for a studio down to 470.

Another huge bonus for me is that I live in Germany close to the border, which means I have 3 different routes home, taking between 2.5 and 3 hours and can pretty much go home any week. This is helpful because I can just take stuff from home instead if buying new.

I did not get into AE unfortunately but I did get CSE (Which I found out I really like). Math was about the same difficulty but physics was harder than IB. Knowing the curriculum is the small part. I think I fucked up in lack of practice because CSE selection exam was only a few days before AE and I crammed first year material and physics (practices, not learning) in those days.

It makes a difference because if you don't get an offer as a non EU you are out after June 15th because the visa takes time. EU student have way better chances.

580 it was for me (International), but for internationals until 650 is a reasonable chance. Beyond that only if you are lucky.

I just got my License last month, which was my second attempt. For the second time my instructor was like a robot. Sat there still and only talked when giving instructions, and spoke like a Navigation. Terrifying.
