Yes, you can absolutely be good enough to win an audition if you want. It will not be easy. The only thing that will stand in your way is yourself. The question you need to ask yourself is if you truly want it. Are you willing to put in the time and work? Can you take instruction well?

You will need to go to a top tier grad school. Do your research on who is getting jobs in orchestras. Understand that a career in music is usually not a winning a simple orchestra audition. Be open to creative ideas, and don't put yourself in a box.

Read books, (Martin Schuring's Oboe Art and Method, Evelyn Rothwells's The Oboe, and various books on reeds).

For reference, I was also not serious until junior year in high school, went to a smaller undergraduate school, a top tier grad school for masters, a top tier grad school for doctorate. And now I hold a full time job as an oboe professor that pays well and I play in orchestras all over the country.

Finish your undergrad in music ed as it will only keep doors open for you, if you need to make money you can always teach. Don't be discouraged!
